The document outlines a plan for a movie opening scene involving a heist. It will show the initial heist over 1 minute and then flash back to the planning meeting. It will feature 3 heist members to keep it under the 2 minute time limit. Unlike earlier ideas, the scene will now be filmed in Uganda to take advantage of the beautiful location. It will show an undercover agent returning from a mission in Africa on a plane and then flashing to the heist, which will be interrupted by the undercover team preventing the getaway. The undercover officer will be the getaway driver. To film this, the document's author will borrow a camera over Christmas and is still seeking permission to film at various venues.
1. Final idea for the movie opening
For my task I have decided to go for the type of film that I would like to watch at the cinema. I have
chosen to do a heist type opening, where I will shoot the initial heist and then after around 1 minute
of filming flash back to the initial planning scene of the heist. For this I will ask permission of various
venues and I will have written or typed permission to say that what I am doing it legal and they are
ok with it.
I have chosen the genre of films because I personally prefer to see some form of action heist. I will
be doing case study films, where I will analyse and evaluate sequences from various films I have
seen. This will help me to get an understanding of what I should do for this piece. The rating of my
film will be 15+, however as I am in an AS level class there should not be a problem with underage
people watching. I have chosen the age rating due to the moderate violence and the slight use of
abusive language, however I will take into account that as it will uploaded to YouTube there may be
a younger audience viewing it.
For this I will use 3 heist members, I have chosen this because when I flash back to the planning
stage of the heist I aspire to introduce them, so with more than three I may not be able to keep it
under the time limit of two minutes.
However unlike in my initial ideas, I have had the idea to film in Uganda, seeing as I have had such a
good opportunity to film in such a beautiful place, it’d be a shame to waste. I have had the idea that
the undercover agent can be called out from a mission in Africa, so this will include getting shots on
a plane of the agent coming back to the country. It will then flash into the heist, which will then be
cut short by the undercover team coming in to prevent the getaway. The undercover officer will be
the driver so the opening shot will be the people banding on the windows getting in the car.
To achieve this I will need to borrow a camera over the Christmas period, I have booked out a 600d
and a tripod. I am still looking to get permission for various venues to film around.
