History of Nursing class requirement was to research and teach about a famouse nurse who had an impact on the development of nursing as we know it today. Mother Bickerdyke had a huge impact on the way nurses work and are perceived today.
4. Mary Bickerdyke accepted her election to travel to Cairo and help with the war with the following statement: “ I’ll go to Cairo, and I’ll clean things up down there. You don’t need to worry about that. Them generals and all ain’t going to stop me. This is the Lord’s work you’re calling me to do. And when I’m doing the Lord’s work, they ain’t nobody big enough to stop me!”
