Importance of English Class Essay
Taking an English class during college is important for a fundamental education, because
regardless of the major I chose, I must able to communicate well in written and spoken words.
After all, in the future, when I try to obtain a job, the corporations will most likely base their
decision on my ability to express ideas and opinions in a sophisticated and correct manner.
Therefore, increasing my knowledge and skills in English will increase my opportunities to success.
Yet, currently, many students try to avoid taking English class due to the great amount of practice
and dedication that requires. This, in the long run, decreases their abilities to analyze, express and
critique ideas. Personally, taking an English class has made my...show more content...
As a foreign student, English class gave me the opportunity to improve my overall knowledge about
the language. Another writing mistake was thinking what I was going to write in Spanish and then
try to translate it to English. Nevertheless, this does not work. The grammar and idiom differences
would make my writing sound confusing and clumsy. In the future, this could affect my
performance as a professional. And since a sloppy writing will most likely reflect on a person's
poor vocabulary, I am presently learning to improve my vocabulary by reading frequently since it
helps me to be exposing to new words, sentence structures, and styles techniques, which I could use
in my future assignments. During the semester, I learned to focus on my strengths and work on my
weaknesses. I could use my organization, paragraph structure, and transition skills to keep high
quality writing. This will be helpful to assure an above average grade when I take English 102
during the summer. On the other hand, although students often try to avoid their weaknesses, I see
them as useful. Knowing my weaknesses gives me the opportunity to work on them until they
become strengths. For example, as I mentioned before, organization is presently my biggest strength.
However, at the beginning of the course, it wasn't. I had to practice and work on it until it became

My Journey As A High School Student Essay
At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I
had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a
studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was
excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was
necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to
learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the
judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into
groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two
combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done,
we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally,
the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the
cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had
made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp,
or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located
in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month
before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach

My Growth Is A High School Student
My Growth Essay Being a high school student in the tenth grade things a bit hectic all the tests and
book reports I have to do I always get caught up in my school work. Since my school life consists of
nothing but essays, keynotes, benchmarks and free response questions. Never anything less than
teachers pressing on about double spaces, sentence patterns and "Where to put the semi–colon." I
have never really noticed that they fail to teach or lecture me about unique writing skills until I
got into this class. "Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle." That
quote was from Napoleon Hill and it means more than enough to me because I thrive everyday to
succeed in life and over the years and through this class I've learned, Growth and success are the
key things. I have learned that if you put effort into all you do that you'll be surprised with what
the outcome may be. That you can start now because you're never too old or too young to learn
how to succeed and have a successful life. When I first started ACA 115 I didn't know what to
expect, I was honestly really scared I was going to fail. I wasn't prepared for it because I signed
up for it my Freshman year and I had forgot about it. Now that I've settled in and put in some effort
I found that it was really easy, All I had to do was just talk about different learning styles and
studying methods that work for me. This class taught me how to not forget about my budget and
how to spend not

High School Volunteering Essay
Do you you think students should be required to volunteer in their communities to receive their
high school diplomas? I for one do not think you should be required to volunteer for your
community in order to get your diploma. In my eyes no one should be forced to volunteer to do
anything however, volunteering does teach responsibility and builds character. Volunteering for
something on your own shows what type of person you are however, being forced to volunteer isn't
really volunteering. I do not feel like you should be forced to volunteer for your community in order
to get a high school diploma but I do think volunteering is a good thing to do.
Volunteering for something is usually something you want to do, you do not volunteer for something

Year End Reflection Essay
Year End Reflection 2016
When I think of grade 8, I think of all the sports I play and how much I developed as a student
athlete from the beginning of the year to now.
Why sports comes to mind when I think of grade 8 is because this would be the year where I'm
transitioning from grade 8 to high school, which means I will have to start taking sports more
seriously, because in high school sports, for example, in football you have to be really good, and you
can't depend on being a "good athlete' because when you get to the next level of playing football
(high school) everyone is a good athlete, and you start to realize that being athletic will only take
you so far.
My main sport that I play is football. I started playing football when I was 11, when I started I was
pretty good. I was playing at a position lots of players wanted to play, linebacker, and I didn't
really take it to my advantage because I know anything about football, but as that season went on
I started getting better at my position, but the following year, I was played at a different position
because the kids we were playing with were a year older than me, that's when I realized if I wanted
to be a good player, I had to try, and that is when I really started developing in football, the...show

I developed a lot of skills this year, coming in as a kid who didn't take his school work seriously, I
learned that school really does matter and I will need school if I want to do anything in life. This
year specifically also taught me a lot of skills that I could use in high school like time
management and being able to control myself when I have freedom in school. This year also
taught me skills I didn't know I had, like if I separate myself from my friends I could complete lots

Should High School Students be Required to Take a Foreign Language? In the past high school
students were not given the option to take a foreign language, the school did not even have a
foreign language class that could be taken. In today's world high school students are making the
decision of taking a foreign language. Taking a foreign language in high school is an option and is
not forced in many states, however, in many states colleges require a foreign language to
graduate. So, what are high school students to do? Does taking a language in high school relate to
today's world? High school students should be required to take a foreign language for college
and for future job opportunities. A foreign language is required for many colleges. Most colleges
in Iowa, along with many more states, all across America, require that college students have at
least two years of a foreign language before they graduate, so if students do not take a foreign
language in high school they will have to take it in college. According to the 2017 College Board
for the United States of America, many colleges require a minimum of two years of study of a
single foreign language; also many colleges see that a foreign language shows that the students is
stretching beyond the basics of high school ("High School Classes Colleges Look For"). With the
requirement to have a foreign language both required by the state and by the college it is getting
harder and harder for college students not to have a

Why High Schools Should Go Straight Into College
All around the world the expectation out of high school is you need to go straight into college
/university and you need to know what your major is after your first year. Most high schools will
focus on a local college or university that is close and has the best interest in the students, but
sometimes they focus on the school that they get benefits from so when a school focuses on a local
college it may not be the place for you because regardless and in most cases your high school
schedule and the classes you take are based on that local college or university so if you like high
school and think it gets you ready for that school more power to you but overall high schools
definitely push students into local colleges.
To start off should high schools require students to take college level classes at the end of their
high school career? In most places schools will have students take college level classes their senior
year to prepare them for college what these classes end up doing is cause them to under estimate
college because the classes that are taunt are dumbed down to be high school ready. But the exact
opposite can happen and students are put through a class that a high school student would not be
prepared for causing students to fail and not graduate.
One of the biggest reasons why college and university counseling services are seeing an increase in
the number of people requesting help and in the severity of their cases is simply that more people
are now attending

My High School Career Essay
Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four
years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my
surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things
to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant
to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again.
I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd
learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being
lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that
yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize.
But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent
too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education.
Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not
paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things
while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my
full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this
point my lack of focus on my education was because of

Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was
already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even
more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I
finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of
English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be
where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on
the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths
that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an
English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do
that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content...
I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your
own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I
was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this
technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I
was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could
use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went
there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I
used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even
go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident
as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that

My Greatest Accomplishment In High School
A Found Friend I thought I knew everything about high school then I met Da'kevus Arceneaux.
Well it was 7 o'clock in Ms. Phyllis's English 1 first hour when De'kevus Arceneaux smoothly
cruised into the classroom with a smile from ear to ear. De'kevus discussed with me how high
school changed him and helped him grow and he answered with a bright smile and clear answers.
Speaking with De'kevus, I learned more about the high school experience, coming of age and
making future plans. Da'kevus had a very good experience when it came to sports and academics.
I asked Da'kevus, "What was your biggest accomplishment in high school and how did you
accomplish it". Da'kevus answered "My biggest accomplishment is where I am now, my senior year,
you must stay focused and do what you need to do to get where you want to be.". Da'kevus excelled
very well in Track and Cross Country. Da'kevus said : I ran track because i love running.". Now I
know more about Carencro High school, I also learned more about Cross country. Da'kevus has
matured so much during his years at Carencro High school. I asked Da'kevus "How has high school
changed you?" he answered by saying "High School changed me because at first I was shy but it
changed me to open up to people and it taught me how to speak to people, like you need to be able

My High School Teacher
My high school teacher, a lady, has inspired me to become a teacher. She demonstrated to me how
caring, enthusiastic and accessible a teacher can be to students. She inspired me with her unlimited
patience when interacting with students including myself. She would approach each student in her
own way and gave every student their own privacy when it comes to getting assessment results. I
respect her very much as she respected me and made my final year of high school very memorable.

Being a teacher means being compassionate, tolerant and responsible for their students, the
community, and the society. A good teacher is influential and can impact others positively by being
a role model/good example for them(young children). A good teacher definitely should have a strong
dedication towards teaching and students' learning.
A good teacher helps students overcome their fear, low–self esteem and struggle that they may face
in school. A good teacher should also encourage students to discover their own interest and talent. It
also important that a good teacher will teach and demonstrate to students the importance of honesty,
good morals and values so that they know what to do and what not to do and what is wrong and
what is right. This also helps by shaping their personal understanding of themselves and the world
which will benefit them in their future.
I am an attentive listener with unlimited patience. I can listen to students; questions, needs and
worries. I am also a great observer meaning I can see and obverse if any student is facing

English is, almost certainly, the most important subject that a child can learn in school. Without
knowing proper English, a child will not be able to communicate effectively with the English
speaking nation. They would be shut off from education and other people in this country. A person
who does not poses proper English limits his or her ability to achieve their highest potential.
Knowledge of the English language is important to learn to be able to communicate with others, in

One kind of problem that immigrants share is the need to learn the English language, even if
learning English is a very hard language to learn. When immigrants do not learn English, they are
fated to remain second class citizens or never become a citizen. They are ghettoized and never
integrate into the main stream of society. They are forced to take low paying jobs, their children are
raised in poverty, and they frequently do not finish high school, they take low paying jobs
themselves, raise their own children in poverty and remain in this never ending cycle. Furthermore
when you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to
communicate and fit in with the local community. Doing so will establish your interest in and
commitment to the new country. Many businesses do not bother to learn other languages because;
they believe that most of the people they do business with can speak English. The lack of
understanding the English language puts the non–English speaking individuals at a greater
disadvantage, then those who understand and articulate English. It is very important for immigrants
to learn and understand English in order for them to be successful and live the American dream.
(Poisl, 2011). A person needs to have the ability to demonstrate an appropriate understanding of the
English language, in order to impress potential employers. According to the author of the Article

Sample Of Admission Essay For High School
My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as
finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be

My experience throughout English 101 Essay
My Experience throughout English 101
As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest
potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic
requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my
professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for
some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me
with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101
taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was
required.

Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense.
Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember
having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was
looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading
critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;"
(Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand
what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by
my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to
convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays.
Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish
writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to
write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one
type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several
other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my
style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what
matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and

Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing
fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more
interesting.
Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their
likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject.
Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should
consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high
school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students
show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to
learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are
excited about attending class because they already know something very eventful is going to take
place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so. They
are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and

just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually
dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially
after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened
after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was
my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me
that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and
choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over
me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most
about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana,

English Essays For High School Students

  • 1. Importance of English Class Essay Taking an English class during college is important for a fundamental education, because regardless of the major I chose, I must able to communicate well in written and spoken words. After all, in the future, when I try to obtain a job, the corporations will most likely base their decision on my ability to express ideas and opinions in a sophisticated and correct manner. Therefore, increasing my knowledge and skills in English will increase my opportunities to success. Yet, currently, many students try to avoid taking English class due to the great amount of practice and dedication that requires. This, in the long run, decreases their abilities to analyze, express and critique ideas. Personally, taking an English class has made my...show more content... As a foreign student, English class gave me the opportunity to improve my overall knowledge about the language. Another writing mistake was thinking what I was going to write in Spanish and then try to translate it to English. Nevertheless, this does not work. The grammar and idiom differences would make my writing sound confusing and clumsy. In the future, this could affect my performance as a professional. And since a sloppy writing will most likely reflect on a person's poor vocabulary, I am presently learning to improve my vocabulary by reading frequently since it helps me to be exposing to new words, sentence structures, and styles techniques, which I could use in my future assignments. During the semester, I learned to focus on my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I could use my organization, paragraph structure, and transition skills to keep high quality writing. This will be helpful to assure an above average grade when I take English 102 during the summer. On the other hand, although students often try to avoid their weaknesses, I see them as useful. Knowing my weaknesses gives me the opportunity to work on them until they become strengths. For example, as I mentioned before, organization is presently my biggest strength. However, at the beginning of the course, it wasn't. I had to practice and work on it until it became natural and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Journey As A High School Student Essay At around this time four years back, I was just beginning my journey as a high school student. I had decided that I wanted to tryout for my schools ' dance team. I had previously danced with a studio by the name of Barton and Williams School of Dance, since the age of three, so I was excited to learn that I could be on a team at my school. I received all of the information that was necessary regarding the tryout dates, along with the paperwork that would be needed. We had to learn two combinations, as well as the actual tryout dance, within three days. On the day of the judging portion of the tryouts, everyone received a number. The judges would throw us into groups of three or four by randomly choosing our numbers. We needed to perform the two combinations individually and the actual routine as a group. Once all of the groups were done, we had to wait for a good two or three hours for the results. Everyone had been so nervous. Finally, the judges entered the room and posted the list of the numbers of the people who had made the cut onto the wall. I was so excited to see my number on the list and to be able to say that I had made it. In the very beginning of the season, my team attended the National Dance Alliance camp, or NDA camp. This camp consists of nothing but dance for four days and three nights. It is located in Maryland, at Towson University, so we had to rent a bus in order to get there. About a month before camp, the team hired a guest choreographer to teach Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Growth Is A High School Student My Growth Essay Being a high school student in the tenth grade things a bit hectic all the tests and book reports I have to do I always get caught up in my school work. Since my school life consists of nothing but essays, keynotes, benchmarks and free response questions. Never anything less than teachers pressing on about double spaces, sentence patterns and "Where to put the semi–colon." I have never really noticed that they fail to teach or lecture me about unique writing skills until I got into this class. "Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle." That quote was from Napoleon Hill and it means more than enough to me because I thrive everyday to succeed in life and over the years and through this class I've learned, Growth and success are the key things. I have learned that if you put effort into all you do that you'll be surprised with what the outcome may be. That you can start now because you're never too old or too young to learn how to succeed and have a successful life. When I first started ACA 115 I didn't know what to expect, I was honestly really scared I was going to fail. I wasn't prepared for it because I signed up for it my Freshman year and I had forgot about it. Now that I've settled in and put in some effort I found that it was really easy, All I had to do was just talk about different learning styles and studying methods that work for me. This class taught me how to not forget about my budget and how to spend not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. High School Volunteering Essay Do you you think students should be required to volunteer in their communities to receive their high school diplomas? I for one do not think you should be required to volunteer for your community in order to get your diploma. In my eyes no one should be forced to volunteer to do anything however, volunteering does teach responsibility and builds character. Volunteering for something on your own shows what type of person you are however, being forced to volunteer isn't really volunteering. I do not feel like you should be forced to volunteer for your community in order to get a high school diploma but I do think volunteering is a good thing to do. Volunteering for something is usually something you want to do, you do not volunteer for something Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Year End Reflection Essay Year End Reflection 2016 When I think of grade 8, I think of all the sports I play and how much I developed as a student athlete from the beginning of the year to now. Why sports comes to mind when I think of grade 8 is because this would be the year where I'm transitioning from grade 8 to high school, which means I will have to start taking sports more seriously, because in high school sports, for example, in football you have to be really good, and you can't depend on being a "good athlete' because when you get to the next level of playing football (high school) everyone is a good athlete, and you start to realize that being athletic will only take you so far. My main sport that I play is football. I started playing football when I was 11, when I started I was pretty good. I was playing at a position lots of players wanted to play, linebacker, and I didn't really take it to my advantage because I know anything about football, but as that season went on I started getting better at my position, but the following year, I was played at a different position because the kids we were playing with were a year older than me, that's when I realized if I wanted to be a good player, I had to try, and that is when I really started developing in football, the...show more content... I developed a lot of skills this year, coming in as a kid who didn't take his school work seriously, I learned that school really does matter and I will need school if I want to do anything in life. This year specifically also taught me a lot of skills that I could use in high school like time management and being able to control myself when I have freedom in school. This year also taught me skills I didn't know I had, like if I separate myself from my friends I could complete lots of work without the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Should High School Students be Required to Take a Foreign Language? In the past high school students were not given the option to take a foreign language, the school did not even have a foreign language class that could be taken. In today's world high school students are making the decision of taking a foreign language. Taking a foreign language in high school is an option and is not forced in many states, however, in many states colleges require a foreign language to graduate. So, what are high school students to do? Does taking a language in high school relate to today's world? High school students should be required to take a foreign language for college and for future job opportunities. A foreign language is required for many colleges. Most colleges in Iowa, along with many more states, all across America, require that college students have at least two years of a foreign language before they graduate, so if students do not take a foreign language in high school they will have to take it in college. According to the 2017 College Board for the United States of America, many colleges require a minimum of two years of study of a single foreign language; also many colleges see that a foreign language shows that the students is stretching beyond the basics of high school ("High School Classes Colleges Look For"). With the requirement to have a foreign language both required by the state and by the college it is getting harder and harder for college students not to have a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Why High Schools Should Go Straight Into College All around the world the expectation out of high school is you need to go straight into college /university and you need to know what your major is after your first year. Most high schools will focus on a local college or university that is close and has the best interest in the students, but sometimes they focus on the school that they get benefits from so when a school focuses on a local college it may not be the place for you because regardless and in most cases your high school schedule and the classes you take are based on that local college or university so if you like high school and think it gets you ready for that school more power to you but overall high schools definitely push students into local colleges. To start off should high schools require students to take college level classes at the end of their high school career? In most places schools will have students take college level classes their senior year to prepare them for college what these classes end up doing is cause them to under estimate college because the classes that are taunt are dumbed down to be high school ready. But the exact opposite can happen and students are put through a class that a high school student would not be prepared for causing students to fail and not graduate. One of the biggest reasons why college and university counseling services are seeing an increase in the number of people requesting help and in the severity of their cases is simply that more people are now attending Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My High School Career Essay Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four years it was a big blur. I'm not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things to everyone else. Maybe there's just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again. I remember going into my freshman year of high school nervous but excited because I thought I'd learn so many new things. Next thing you know I found myself dreading school. Was I being lazy? Was it my lack of motivation? I still can't grasp why exactly I lost that excitement or that yearning to go to school. I was raised to have the idea that school was a place to learn not socialize. But at the age of 14, what teenagers don't want to socialize and that's what got a hold of me. I spent too much time worrying about other things that didn't involve my education. Once I became a junior in high school I had been too far in the process of skipping school, not paying attention, and putting all my focus on other things. I'm not saying I didn't learn things while or whenever I did go to because I learned a lot of things but not enough. I didn't reach my full potential. I think this was the year I made friends who weren't as great of influence. So, at this point my lack of focus on my education was because of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content... I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that shaped me into the writer I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. High School Persuasive Essay As I sat there and thought to myself what did everyone thing of me after hearing what I have done. "Taylor Bloom responsible for the deaths of 53 high school students. My head started to wander back to my high school days. In my sophomore year, I was bullied nearly every sing day by the stupid jocks. I started to hate myself so I decided to change my look. The next day I straightened my hair, put a black skirt on, and a white button up shirt with some heels, I left a few of the buttons on my shirt unbuttoned. I was making my way up to the school, I saw all eyes on me even the jocks could not take their eyes off of me. WAS I BECOMING POPULAR? Two weeks later I was the most popular girl in South Lake High. I had a tall, handsome boyfriend and my two new best friends Karli and Rebecca. Everyone wanted to be like me, everyone loved me or as I should say "worshipped me". Until one night at a party I got super intoxicated and ended up doing things I probably shouldn't have. That next day everyone was talking about it and all eyes were on me not that I am complaining, but it was not a good look they were giving me... they all knew what I had done that previous night. I did not show up for school the rest of the semester in fear I would lose my reputation so I started getting homeschooled. I went back my senior year and everyone was still talking about that stupid night at that party. I lost my two best friends Rebecca and Karli because they were embarrassed and they believed the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Greatest Accomplishment In High School A Found Friend I thought I knew everything about high school then I met Da'kevus Arceneaux. Well it was 7 o'clock in Ms. Phyllis's English 1 first hour when De'kevus Arceneaux smoothly cruised into the classroom with a smile from ear to ear. De'kevus discussed with me how high school changed him and helped him grow and he answered with a bright smile and clear answers. Speaking with De'kevus, I learned more about the high school experience, coming of age and making future plans. Da'kevus had a very good experience when it came to sports and academics. I asked Da'kevus, "What was your biggest accomplishment in high school and how did you accomplish it". Da'kevus answered "My biggest accomplishment is where I am now, my senior year, you must stay focused and do what you need to do to get where you want to be.". Da'kevus excelled very well in Track and Cross Country. Da'kevus said : I ran track because i love running.". Now I know more about Carencro High school, I also learned more about Cross country. Da'kevus has matured so much during his years at Carencro High school. I asked Da'kevus "How has high school changed you?" he answered by saying "High School changed me because at first I was shy but it changed me to open up to people and it taught me how to speak to people, like you need to be able to speak to people for jobs and your life further beyond. • 12. My High School Teacher My high school teacher, a lady, has inspired me to become a teacher. She demonstrated to me how caring, enthusiastic and accessible a teacher can be to students. She inspired me with her unlimited patience when interacting with students including myself. She would approach each student in her own way and gave every student their own privacy when it comes to getting assessment results. I respect her very much as she respected me and made my final year of high school very memorable. Being a teacher means being compassionate, tolerant and responsible for their students, the community, and the society. A good teacher is influential and can impact others positively by being a role model/good example for them(young children). A good teacher definitely should have a strong dedication towards teaching and students' learning. A good teacher helps students overcome their fear, low–self esteem and struggle that they may face in school. A good teacher should also encourage students to discover their own interest and talent. It also important that a good teacher will teach and demonstrate to students the importance of honesty, good morals and values so that they know what to do and what not to do and what is wrong and what is right. This also helps by shaping their personal understanding of themselves and the world which will benefit them in their future. I am an attentive listener with unlimited patience. I can listen to students; questions, needs and worries. I am also a great observer meaning I can see and obverse if any student is facing problems or need an adult to talk to. I care about how others feel and it is why my friends tend to speak out to me about their struggles and concerns. I try my best to comfort them and also offer some advice to overcome their needs or to reduce their stress. • 14. English is, almost certainly, the most important subject that a child can learn in school. Without knowing proper English, a child will not be able to communicate effectively with the English speaking nation. They would be shut off from education and other people in this country. A person who does not poses proper English limits his or her ability to achieve their highest potential. Knowledge of the English language is important to learn to be able to communicate with others, in the teaching of immigrant students, and in finding and maintaining a job. By assuming that students will learn proper communication skills without guidance is a big mistake. Individuals should begin learning basic communication skills at birth and continue...show more content... One kind of problem that immigrants share is the need to learn the English language, even if learning English is a very hard language to learn. When immigrants do not learn English, they are fated to remain second class citizens or never become a citizen. They are ghettoized and never integrate into the main stream of society. They are forced to take low paying jobs, their children are raised in poverty, and they frequently do not finish high school, they take low paying jobs themselves, raise their own children in poverty and remain in this never ending cycle. Furthermore when you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to communicate and fit in with the local community. Doing so will establish your interest in and commitment to the new country. Many businesses do not bother to learn other languages because; they believe that most of the people they do business with can speak English. The lack of understanding the English language puts the non–English speaking individuals at a greater disadvantage, then those who understand and articulate English. It is very important for immigrants to learn and understand English in order for them to be successful and live the American dream. (Poisl, 2011). A person needs to have the ability to demonstrate an appropriate understanding of the English language, in order to impress potential employers. • 15. Sample Of Admission Essay For High School My whole life I have been invested in doing what I love, focusing on my true passions, as well as finding new ones. I have been very involved in my high school, and have been lucky enough to be a part of multiple clubs and activities. Without these activities, my high school experience and life would be a lot different. I have been an active drama club member, a part of 'Bottlecappers,' a club advocating anti–drug, alcohol, and bullying to younger students in my district, and many other community service opportunities. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be in these activities, as they have shaped me to be the young adult I am today. Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered high school, an injury kept me from doing shows. But now I graduate with nine high school shows under my belt, as well as being in multiple community theater productions. Being a part of these shows made me feel a strong sense of belonging, and whether I was an ensemble or lead...show more content... As I had mentioned earlier, I am part of an anti–drugs and alcohol club. I am extended the opportunity to speak to young students about the risks they could encounter. The feeling that those students may look up to us is very meaningful, and I feel it is a unique experience. I am lucky to have the chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some of my friends and I often just like to get together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior citizens smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the chance to perform for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My experience throughout English 101 Essay My Experience throughout English 101 As writers, many students write to the expectations of their professors and not to their fullest potential. Throughout English 101 I had been writing only to please my professor or to fill the basic requirement to pass English. I always felt that my writing ability was never enough for my professors throughout the previous years. They always wanted clear and concise essays, which for some reason was unreachable by me. However, starting college and taking English 101 helped me with my weaknesses and changed my technique of writing essays. My experience in English 101 taught me to write to my fullest potential and to write what I felt; rather then writing what was required. In the...show more content... Also, by revising my essays I felt that I had the chance of writing with a broader sense. Another weakness that I had coming into English 101 was my way of reading. I remember having to read an essay or book 3 or 4 times before I could ever sit down and write about it. I was looking and at the words all wrong. However, my professor introduced a technique of reading critically. "A critical analysis, on the other hand, takes a viewpoint and attempts to its validity;" (Trimble, 95) In Trimble's quote he is trying say that a critical analysis helps a reader understand what the author is really trying to point out. This was the same approach that was taught to me by my professor. This type of analysis helped me understand better what the author was trying to convey and it also helped me explain it better in my essays. Additionally, another weakness that I had when coming into English 101 was that I was a selfish writer. Like Trimble said, "His natural tendency as a writer is to think primarily of himself– hence to write primarily for himself." (Trimble, 4) I was a writer who only cared about impressing one type of audience my professor and not writing to prove a point or expand my knowledge to several other audiences. However, after writing several unsatisfying essays I had come to realize that my style of writing was too narrow and boring. In this realization of writing I discovered that what matters the most is pleasing your audience (many not one), and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. • 20. My High School Experience Essay When people start high school they're usually so excited. They can't wait to experience everything that comes with being in high school, I mean who wouldn't? Everyone says that high school is the best four years of your life. Now that I'm months away from graduating, I can't say they were my best years but I can say they were my most educational years, of course I wouldn't say that they weren't fun because they were. When I say educational, I mean I've learned so much about myself and so much about life. I learned what the words family, love, betrayal, law and life meant. All these events changed me, and I'm glad they happened because I wouldn't have learned all these lessons. My personality hasn't changed; I'm still a carefree girl,...show more content... My freshmen and sophomore year, I had my first real boyfriend. I was completely and totally in love with this guy, he changed me in ways that I'm proud of and ways that I'm not proud of. I revolved my world around him, which wasn't a good idea. After almost two years of dating, we broke up and it literally shattered my world. During our relationship I became friends with his friends and I even considered one of them my best friends, so when we broke up I didn't only loose him, I lost all of them as well. It felt so awful to all of a sudden have everything, and then just lose everything in a day. A couple of weeks later, I found out that my best friend was actually dating my ex boyfriend. I couldn't believe that a person could betray someone like that, especially after everything that she and I went through together. I'm not proud of the events that happened after all of this, and I'm not proud of how I let them change me. The one thing that saved me was my family; they saved me in ways I can't even explain. They gave me hope and a new life for me that I am extremely grateful for. I've learned to be wiser when it comes to picking friends, and choosing who to put my trust in. I also became a stronger person, I don't let people walk all over me or I don't let people control my life anymore. The last event is the one that taught me the most about how hard life is, and how life isn't always fair. My junior year was spent in Tijuana, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
