I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write
an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite
better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and
the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the
contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards.
Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different
methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall
theme and tone of the essay when used properly. This past...show more content...
This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand
the size of my research paper. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever
received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays
writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about
and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned
while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal,
narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I
encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was
finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything
else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and
myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most
of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was
understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them.
For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms

Essay on The Russian and Ukrainian Conflict
Conflict occurs when there is disagreement among individuals, groups, communities, and countries.
There is a risk to their need, interests or concerns as a result of a disagreement. This is a condition
in which people receive a threat such as physical, emotional, political, status and so on. On the basis
of their values, culture, beliefs, experience, and gender they filter their perceptions. It is possible to
recognize new opportunities by transforming conflict into a creative learning experience. It is very
important to have an idea to resolve the conflict between the parties.
The conflict between the Russia and Ukraine has created a lot of damage. It has been developing day
by day. The main reason of conflict is Ukraine's political...show more content...
There are many factors involved in the conflict. The conflict that is rising between Ukraine and
Russia is due to the rejection of the single economic deal with the European Union regarding an
association agreement by Ukrainians President. The decision made by president was not
acceptable for the people and their country so people start to protest against their President. The
economic factor is one of the reasons for the conflict. Crimea is very popular in its moderate
climate. This helps to attract the tourist and Ukrainians can easily make their good economic
condition. Similarly, it is easy to cultivate wheat, corn, and sunflowers. There is no crisis of water.
In Crimea, chemical plants and iron ore is mined. According to UKr Ago Consult, 1.6 million tons
of grain has been exported which is 6.6 percent of Ukraine's exports. Russia had fears if Ukraine
signed an association agreement with the European Union that result low–priced European products
into Ukraine. All the Ukrainian people and Russian people have contributed to the conflict. Russia
is holding power in this conflict situation by sending their troops to Ukraine which result loss of
control of Crimea by Ukraine. All the Crimean is in support of Russia. Council of Minister of
Crimea is dissolved. Russia will be benefitting from keeping the conflict going. They can increase
their economic growth in Ukraine.
It is believe that Russia has violet the international law. United

Why It Is Hard To Write A Research Paper
Why are essays so hard to write ? Essays take a lot of practice and certain requirements to write
them. It takes a lot of practice and counts a lot in parts of your grades. "Most students do not
supplement their general study of the law for the essays. They rely on the encyclopedic outline and
are fooled into thinking all they need for the essays is general concepts."(writing edge p.5) Although
teachers assign them and think that they help us learn most students don't like them and research
shows that's you can't have enough practice to write an essay.
Essays my be very difficult to write because people like to wait last minute. It is said that "There are
a lot of reasons. Many students wait to start writing them until the last minute – and

The Purpose Of Research Design Essay
Research Design

The purpose of research design is to make certain that the information acquired allows one to
consolidate the various elements of a study in a logical and comprehensive manner to effectively
address a research problem. There are three types of research design: qualitative, quantitative, and
mixed methods research. Each of these methods possesses a different value, but despite the purpose
of the research, the method is similar.
The least understood type of company research is qualitative research. This type of research is used
to aid in understanding or exploring an identified issue and/or concern with customers and/or users.
Its value is to help companies understand the habits and emotions of customers and/or users in
relationship to the company's products. This, in turn, will help a company identify how or what
determines the customer's decision. These type of studies are based on one–on–one customer
interviews. An example of qualitative research would be a department store that has more women
shoppers than men. To find out why this is occurring the department store would interview a sample
of potential men shoppers to determine why they are not patronizing their department store. Some of
the reasons could be the store is not stocking enough products suitable for men, the store displays the
image of a women's store, and/or the store has all female employees which can be uncomfortable

Research Experience
I have proactively engaged in research activity throughout my undergraduate program. I had my first
research experience in Dr. B Anand's lab, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, during my
second year. The aim of the project was to study the non–fluorescent beta–barrel structured proteins
and engineer its amino acid sequence to make them into fluorescent ones. Our approach was mainly
based upon the studies of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from a jellyfish Aequorea victoria. Tools
like Python programming language, Gromacs, Ribosome, PROSS, and Pymol were used to study
the structural components of non–fluorescent proteins. I gained invaluable...show more content...
I was challenged with cloning ydeH gene into the pJT118 plasmids which are green light sensitive.
The ydeH gene produces a protein named diguanylate cyclase, which induces the production of
c–di–GMP in Rosetta strain. This project gave me an opportunity to participate and win silver at
International Bio–molecular design competition (BIOMOD) 2012 held at Wyss Institute, Harvard
University, USA. Most of the molecular genetic techniques were extensively used in my project.
During this internship, apart from gaining deeper technical experience, I realized that I could work
on a research problem with a certain degree of independence, figuring out right approaches and
proposing useful experiments. I acquired more confidence in my aptitude for research and it has
been boosted while working on my undergraduate projects.
As a part of my undergraduate thesis, I worked on a project 'Extraction and analysis of beauvericin,
a mycotoxin produced by Beauveria bassiana and its cytotoxic effects on the SF–21 (immortalized
pupal ovarian cells isolated from Spodoptera frugiperda) cell line' under the guidance of Dr.
Gurvinder Kaur Saini, IIT Guwahati. Beauvericin metabolite was extracted from the Beauveria
bassiana isolates UB17 and UB21, by using n–hexane extraction method and the presence of
beauvericin was analyzed and confirmed with High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and
Mass spectroscopy (MS). Cytotoxic

Ethics in Research Essay
Ethics in Research
Research is one of the most successful means of obtaining a wide variety of information concerning
limited or broad topics. However, abundant as this information may be, it is important to maintain an
ethical outlook to all research topics. As research and its subsequent experimentations advance in
light of new generations, the idea of ethics becomes a more prominent issue. Researchers must be
aware of the conflicts that their research may bring about. They must know how to address their
findings in a moral way appealing to the pro and cons. Researchers can not simply accumulate data.
Coupled with data is the process of analysis, where researchers manipulate their findings...show more

According to the National Institute of Health, stem cells are unique cells created from embryos for
infertility purposes usually through the process of in vitro fertilization (Institute on Health). Stems
cells have two important characteristics that differentiate them from other types of cells. One is that
they are unspecialized cells that rejuvenate themselves through cell division. The other is that, under
certain conditions, they can be induced to become certain specialized cells (Institute on Health).
For certain people this is life saving news. Now that cells can be specialized under these
unspecialized stem cells, a patient can receive new heart cells for a diseased heart or many other life
threatening diseases (Institute on Health). This information can be used in a variety of useful ways,
but is it morally right to create embryos only to destroy them? Are these potential humans that could
help them world in some other way? This is the perspective of many people fighting against
stem–cell research. These activists claim that stem–cell research plays against the will of God.
Moreover, if stem cell research is legalized world–wide, who is to say that people will use it only to
benefit the curing of disease? Is it possible that people will become careless and more susceptible to
disease only to receive stem cells to

What I Have Learned About Research
What I have learned about research is that it is a process, a scientific process that psychologist
and scientist develop that includes many different approaches and that is carefully peer reviewed
and evaluated. There is what is called the Scientific Approach where scientist have an idea or
theory and based on their observation will either support the theory or the theory can be falsified
by their peers. Data also goes through a review period before it is published in a scientific journal
by scientist who have the knowledge and expertise to evaluate it.
I also learned the difference between basic and applied research where basic research focuses mostly
on things such as emotion, cognition, social behavior, personality development, learning, and
neuropsychology. Basic research will be more helpful for answering fundamental questions about the
nature of behavior. Applied research however, addresses more of a specific problem with a possible
solution. Program evaluation covers a large area of applied research. Program evaluation assesses the
social reforms and innovations that occur in government, education, the criminal justice system,
industry, health care, and mental health institutions. When discussing behavioral research it is
imperative to note the precedents that it has in many fields and the significance of the applications
to public policy.
A variable is referred to as any event, situation, behavior, or individual characteristic that changes or
varies. Any variable

Research Methods Essay
Quantitative and Qualitative are said to be systematic in different design. Both design have to follow
a process system that involved defining a principle of research.
General speaking, quantitative research is thought to be objective, however qualitative research
often involves a subjective element. There are differences designs in qualitative research in
comparison to quantitative research. Qualitative research involves words, pictures, or objects;
Quantitative involves data in the form of numbers and statistics.
However, the researcher uses in–depth interviews in qualitative research to find out how the subjects
view their world. In quantitative research the researcher uses precise measurement to predict
hypotheses. Whereas,...show more content...
Qualitative research is conducted in a natural setting and attempts to understand a human problem
by developing a holistic narrative and reporting detailed views of informants about the culture of a
problem. It forms a report with pictures and words. One of the most important distinctions that sets
qualitative research apart from more traditional types of research is that qualitative research is
holistic in that researchers study phenomena in their entirety rather than narrowing the focus to
specific defined variables" (p. 93). Similarly, Cresswell (1984) indicated that qualitative research
"is defined as an inquiry process of understanding a social or human problem, based on building a
holistic picture, formed with words, reporting detailed views of informants, and conducted in a
natural setting" (p. 2). Cresswell's definition clearly delineates the major characteristics of qualitative
research. Pg. 50 (Smith & Davis, 2010). Pg. 51 (Smith & Davis, 2010). "How do researchers
evaluate trustworthiness?" Guba and Lincoln (1994) proposed that trustworthiness could be judged
by the following criteria: conformability, dependability, credibility, and transferability.
For Example, Qualitative researchers use conformability, dependability, credibility, and
transferability to evaluate the trustworthiness of a qualitative research report. In order to prevent
researcher bias they can have other researchers point out

Sampling Methods Essay
Sampling is the framework on which any form of research is carried out. A suitable sample that
meets the inclusion and exclusion criteria of a research design must be chosen from a given
population to carry out studies. In this essay comparison is made between stratified random
sampling and convenience sampling. The population on which the researcher is interested in
carrying out his or her research may be too large, therefore a suitable sample which can represent the
population in correct proportion must be chosen. Restraints such as limitation of time, resources and
many other factors necessitate the selection of a sample for research purpose so that better quality
data is obtained from it and that the researcher can make statement about...show more content...
The methodological strength and weaknesses of this two sampling methods is discussed in terms of
identifying the samples for research, the representativeness it possesses to the general population, the
methods and the outcome. Stratified random sampling is a probability sampling where the selection
of sampling unit is left to a random process, all units in the sample has an equal and non–zero
chance of being selected on a probability ground or chance and not on the choice or judgement of
the researcher (Sim,J and Wright,C. 2000,). Convenience sampling is an example of non probability
sampling where the selection of the units is not by chance, rather it is dependent on the researcher's
judgement, the researcher decides the samples to be included in the study which may be subject to
availability, time, individual preferences etc. The probability of selection of a particular sampling
unit may or may not be known. Stratified random sampling is commonly done in quantitative
researches. When the samples reflect the characteristics of the target population in the same
proportion; assumptions can be made on generalizing the data acquired from these samples provided
it has been done correctly, since it is statistically representative (Sim,J and wright,C.,2000) but

Importance And Purpose Of Research Essay
Importance and purpose of research
Research is important to understand, increase knowledge, and get information for social life.
Social research is conducted to extend knowledge about some aspects of society like humanities,
business or any social science [asi]. Research is used to form or develop new theories in order to
understand the process behind particular event or behavior, or review the correctness of existing
theories. In addition, research is also conducted to inform decisions or action to solve everyday
issues such as evaluating the effectiveness of policy. [abr] and [brm] of the business research
emphasis on the importance of research as getting problem–solving information. Research is the
process of studying and analyzing the aspects of the issue as to explore the solution to the business.
The summaries of the core objectives of research are testing existing knowledge, developing new
system or generating new knowledge, seeking solution for issues, and analyzing new problems or
investigating existing problems [br].
Quantitative and Qualitative Paradigm
[br] a research paradigm is a philosophical perspective that guides how scientific research should be
conducted. Philosophy is 'a set or system of beliefs [stemming from] the study of the fundamental
nature of knowledge, reality, and existence' (Waite and Hawker, 2009, p.685).

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the
basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things
like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers,
documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I
predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in
kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with
no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content...
I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic
and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I
need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or
have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge
to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays,
and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in
my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to
do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex
education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will
have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I
can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am
talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that
other nurses will not

How I Learned And Developed My Writing Skills
This semester I was surprised by how much I actually learned and developed my writing skills. I
was given the opportunity to learn the many steps that it is required to become a good writer.
Writing requires a lot of work. It consists of various steps; prewriting, drafting, rewriting,
proofreading and publishing. . All of these components are extremely important, and necessary, and
will need to be follow to improve student's writing.
I feel my writing has improved due to the help of the writing process and all the writing
assignments I experienced. I was able utilized each of these components this semester. I wrote
various journals and two essays, which were very challenging to me. The first essay I was asked to
write, was a Narrative essay about an experience in which later I questioned my actions. At first, I
was very nervous due to I have never written an essay before. I did not even know where to begin.
I struggled during the whole process of writing an essay. My biggest problem of all was putting
my thoughts in order so I could make sense of what I wanted to say. I brainstorm for days trying
to figure out a topic. With the help of the eLearning text information on module 2, how to choose
a topic and developing a working thesis I started to write down some ideas. With the help of
Module 3, Introduction to Narrative Essay, and the examples that were provided, I was able to start
getting some ideas of what I wanted to write about. I finally came up with, Moving away

Research Paper: A Good Man is Hard to Find
A good man really is hard to find. But what is the real definition of a real man? Maybe it is not
just the prince charming you see in fairy tales or the perfect guy walking down Sixth Ave. that
you pass by everyday to work. Maybe a good guy is simply someone that is good what they do. In
this case the relationship between the grandmother and the misfit is just that. The only thing is if
the reader sees it as clearly as the author would like them too or simply as she does. The setting of
the story is never really clear to the reader. The author never really comes out and says where and
when the story takes place, but with a few clues an idea is given on a pretty clear setting of "A

This could have been the case between he misfit and the grandmother both. But it's never really

was slowly beginning to turn into one but never made it all the way. "So take a chance, and take a
look at Flannery O'Connor. Prepare to laugh, to be shocked, and to think. But most of all, be
prepared to see." –Welborn. There are many symbols in A Good Man is Hard to Find. "A Symbol is
something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, especially a
material object used to represent something invisible." –Symbol. The first most obvious symbol is
the Grandmother's hat. She wears the hat for one sole purpose; if she were to die she would want
the ones who found her body to be able to identify her as a lady. When she prepares for the car
trip, she prepares for any accident that may occur. For the grandmother the only thing that seems to
matter to her is that she is recognized as a lady, this reveals her selfishness and flimsy moral
convention. When the grandmother first gets ready for the trip, the hat is in perfect condition. No
tears, no nothing. When the grandmother gets involved in the car accident, just like her moral
convictions, her hat begins to fall apart. The rim of the hat begins to tear as she faces the misfit and
is thrown from the car. When the

Reflection Paper On Marketing
At the beginning of this class, my main objective was to learn more about finance and learn about
marketing. When I first review the class's syllabus, I thought this class would be mainly about
marketing and investments, but I was glad to find out that the class was about more than just
marketing. I would definitely say that I met my objectives and even more because I learned more
than I was expecting. This class helped developed a security about a business idea that was on my
mind for years which is having my own private investigations company. Before this class, the idea
of owning a company about something that I am very passionate about was only just an idea and I
never thought I could have been developed a possible marketing plan. Thanks to this class, I was
able to work on a marketing plan for my dream company. Even though some assignments were
difficult, I felt that no one could have taken the excitement I felt every single time I sat down to
work on my own business marketing plan.

interests is important but the strengths, values, and limitations that you bring to the table are
more important. Learning this about yourself helps to address your own weaknesses and to find
individuals that balance the research group out. Throughout this course, I also learned a bit about
research. My concept of research changed very little. Throughout high school and the IB
program, I learned how to evaluate sources, the importance of primary sources, and other
elements of research. In my senior year, I completed an original work entitled "How has the
internet changed the market structure of local news with reference to the Augusta Chronicle in
Augusta, Georgia?". The research paper was over 24 pages and nearly 4,000 words long. I

Experimental Research Designs Essay
Experimental Research Designs
"A correlational study determines whether or not two variables are correlated. This means to study
whether there is an increase or decrease in one variable corresponds to an increase or decrease in
the other variable" (Cherry, 2012). In most correlation studies there is a relationship between both
variables that had a change, while in others there wasn't necessarily causation between the two
(Cherry, 2012).
An experimental design is one in which the researcher manipulates the independent variable to
observe its effect the dependent variable. When conducting an experiment the researcher will use

The review is an examination of the literature that was gathered, pointing toward the answer of the
research question. Literature reviewed typically includes journals, books, government databases and
other sources. Sometimes it includes newspapers, magazines, films, and audio or video research
(Literature Review, 2011). This is going over the literature that has been gathered and picking what
is relevant to the hypothesis in the first place.
Design the research methodology. o Research methodology is where you describe how you are
gonna gather information and this can be survey interview or literature review. And then you
explain each method what are they, what you will do to them. A survey is really good for research
using statistics and literature review is great for all kinds of research.
Determine the results. o The data from an experiment has been gathered, the researchers then
compare the results to the control group and determine if the experiment was effective (Cherry,
2012). A good example of this is when a pharmaceutical company does research on certain types of
new medicine. They used a control group that uses a placebo and the other group takes the medicine
that is being researched. They then compare the results and this experiment can be taken several
ways.
Reach conclusions. o Once all the data is collected and the study is designed, the information is
examined and conclusions

3.0 Introduction
Following a critical overview of the literature, this chapter outlines the research methodology. It will
provide a justification for a qualitative methodological approach and specification of methods
employed. Highlighting the appropriateness of interviews and focus groups in relation to the
methodology and overall research. It will also provide recognition of their relative strengths and
limitations.
3.1 Methodology/Methodological approach
Research methodology and methodological approaches that is, the structured process of conducting
research and the overall concepts and theories which underpin research respectively (Bryman, 2008),
occupy a central position in the research process as they are both shaped by and translate the
researcher's epistemological position. Epistemology then refers to a researcher's philosophical stance
about the nature, derivation and scope of knowledge (Gilbert, 2008). These positions are seldom
'spelt out' but rather understood in the matter of research methodology and approach (Sarantakos,
2005).
As this research is exploratory in nature that is, it sought to explore and examine decision–making,
morality and 'sense–making' amongst human participants I was naturally orientated towards an
interpretivist epistemological position. The central thesis of interpretivism is that knowledge, its
origin and interpretation is founded on human subjectivities and as such complemented my own
world view that knowledge is indeed

The research Process Essay
Processes of research by Jonathan Guy
In this essay I will outline the primary methods of conducting research, their advantages and
disadvantages and will outline where they are best utilised. In addition to this, I will select certain
methods of research that I believe will be applicable to my own dissertation and state why I will use
those particular methods to conduct my own research.
The first question we should ask is what is research? John C. Merriam considers research as "a
reaching out to bring together, organise and interpret what ever may be added to our store of
knowledge...most truly exemplified when it involves the wider relationship of specific facts to the
whole structure of knowledge". (C. Merriam, 1941, pg890) In other...show more content...
It is the fundamental requirement in the advance of civilisation" (Merriam, 1929, 56–57).
Whilst there seems little argument over whether we should conduct research or not, its importance
being more than apparent, the question now becomes in what manner should we conduct research
and what advantages do certain methods have over others. There are numerous ways of conducting
research but the most prominent are the science and scientific methods, the logical methods, the case
methods, the statistical methods, and the experimental methods each of which shall now be
considered.
First we shall consider the scientific method. There is much debate as to whether social studies can
be considered a science on the basis of how it conducts its research but any claims that it is a
science are based more or less entirely on the scientific method and rational choice, characterised
predominantly by its use of facts and empirical evidence to support its claims with in political
"science". Karl Pearson states the scientific method as "The scientific method is marked by the
following features: (a) careful and accurate classification of facts and observation of their
correlation and sequence; (b) the discovery of scientific laws by aid of the creative imagination (c)
self–criticism and the final touch–stone of the equal validity for all normally constituted minds"
(Pearson, 1911, 6–78). In other words, the scientific method is one which tries to discover

How To Write Research Essay

  • 1. I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall theme and tone of the essay when used properly. This past...show more content... This allowed me to write more extensively on the topic I had chosen which in turn helped expand the size of my research paper. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay on The Russian and Ukrainian Conflict Conflict occurs when there is disagreement among individuals, groups, communities, and countries. There is a risk to their need, interests or concerns as a result of a disagreement. This is a condition in which people receive a threat such as physical, emotional, political, status and so on. On the basis of their values, culture, beliefs, experience, and gender they filter their perceptions. It is possible to recognize new opportunities by transforming conflict into a creative learning experience. It is very important to have an idea to resolve the conflict between the parties. The conflict between the Russia and Ukraine has created a lot of damage. It has been developing day by day. The main reason of conflict is Ukraine's political...show more content... There are many factors involved in the conflict. The conflict that is rising between Ukraine and Russia is due to the rejection of the single economic deal with the European Union regarding an association agreement by Ukrainians President. The decision made by president was not acceptable for the people and their country so people start to protest against their President. The economic factor is one of the reasons for the conflict. Crimea is very popular in its moderate climate. This helps to attract the tourist and Ukrainians can easily make their good economic condition. Similarly, it is easy to cultivate wheat, corn, and sunflowers. There is no crisis of water. In Crimea, chemical plants and iron ore is mined. According to UKr Ago Consult, 1.6 million tons of grain has been exported which is 6.6 percent of Ukraine's exports. Russia had fears if Ukraine signed an association agreement with the European Union that result low–priced European products into Ukraine. All the Ukrainian people and Russian people have contributed to the conflict. Russia is holding power in this conflict situation by sending their troops to Ukraine which result loss of control of Crimea by Ukraine. All the Crimean is in support of Russia. Council of Minister of Crimea is dissolved. Russia will be benefitting from keeping the conflict going. They can increase their economic growth in Ukraine. • 3. Why It Is Hard To Write A Research Paper Why are essays so hard to write ? Essays take a lot of practice and certain requirements to write them. It takes a lot of practice and counts a lot in parts of your grades. "Most students do not supplement their general study of the law for the essays. They rely on the encyclopedic outline and are fooled into thinking all they need for the essays is general concepts."(writing edge p.5) Although teachers assign them and think that they help us learn most students don't like them and research shows that's you can't have enough practice to write an essay. Essays my be very difficult to write because people like to wait last minute. It is said that "There are a lot of reasons. • 4. The Purpose Of Research Design Essay Research Design Wanda Joy Connally Ohio Christian University November 21, 2016 The purpose of research design is to make certain that the information acquired allows one to consolidate the various elements of a study in a logical and comprehensive manner to effectively address a research problem. There are three types of research design: qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research. Each of these methods possesses a different value, but despite the purpose of the research, the method is similar. The least understood type of company research is qualitative research. This type of research is used to aid in understanding or exploring an identified issue and/or concern with customers and/or users. Its value is to help companies understand the habits and emotions of customers and/or users in relationship to the company's products. This, in turn, will help a company identify how or what determines the customer's decision. These type of studies are based on one–on–one customer interviews. An example of qualitative research would be a department store that has more women shoppers than men. To find out why this is occurring the department store would interview a sample of potential men shoppers to determine why they are not patronizing their department store. Some of the reasons could be the store is not stocking enough products suitable for men, the store displays the image of a women's store, and/or the store has all female employees which can be uncomfortable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Research Experience I have proactively engaged in research activity throughout my undergraduate program. I had my first research experience in Dr. B Anand's lab, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, during my second year. The aim of the project was to study the non–fluorescent beta–barrel structured proteins and engineer its amino acid sequence to make them into fluorescent ones. Our approach was mainly based upon the studies of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) from a jellyfish Aequorea victoria. Tools like Python programming language, Gromacs, Ribosome, PROSS, and Pymol were used to study the structural components of non–fluorescent proteins. I gained invaluable...show more content... I was challenged with cloning ydeH gene into the pJT118 plasmids which are green light sensitive. The ydeH gene produces a protein named diguanylate cyclase, which induces the production of c–di–GMP in Rosetta strain. This project gave me an opportunity to participate and win silver at International Bio–molecular design competition (BIOMOD) 2012 held at Wyss Institute, Harvard University, USA. Most of the molecular genetic techniques were extensively used in my project. During this internship, apart from gaining deeper technical experience, I realized that I could work on a research problem with a certain degree of independence, figuring out right approaches and proposing useful experiments. I acquired more confidence in my aptitude for research and it has been boosted while working on my undergraduate projects. As a part of my undergraduate thesis, I worked on a project 'Extraction and analysis of beauvericin, a mycotoxin produced by Beauveria bassiana and its cytotoxic effects on the SF–21 (immortalized pupal ovarian cells isolated from Spodoptera frugiperda) cell line' under the guidance of Dr. Gurvinder Kaur Saini, IIT Guwahati. • 6. Ethics in Research Essay Ethics in Research Research is one of the most successful means of obtaining a wide variety of information concerning limited or broad topics. However, abundant as this information may be, it is important to maintain an ethical outlook to all research topics. As research and its subsequent experimentations advance in light of new generations, the idea of ethics becomes a more prominent issue. Researchers must be aware of the conflicts that their research may bring about. They must know how to address their findings in a moral way appealing to the pro and cons. Researchers can not simply accumulate data. Coupled with data is the process of analysis, where researchers manipulate their findings...show more content... According to the National Institute of Health, stem cells are unique cells created from embryos for infertility purposes usually through the process of in vitro fertilization (Institute on Health). Stems cells have two important characteristics that differentiate them from other types of cells. One is that they are unspecialized cells that rejuvenate themselves through cell division. The other is that, under certain conditions, they can be induced to become certain specialized cells (Institute on Health). For certain people this is life saving news. Now that cells can be specialized under these unspecialized stem cells, a patient can receive new heart cells for a diseased heart or many other life threatening diseases (Institute on Health). This information can be used in a variety of useful ways, but is it morally right to create embryos only to destroy them? Are these potential humans that could help them world in some other way? This is the perspective of many people fighting against stem–cell research. These activists claim that stem–cell research plays against the will of God. Moreover, if stem cell research is legalized world–wide, who is to say that people will use it only to benefit the curing of disease? Is it possible that people will become careless and more susceptible to disease only to receive stem cells to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. What I Have Learned About Research What I have learned about research is that it is a process, a scientific process that psychologist and scientist develop that includes many different approaches and that is carefully peer reviewed and evaluated. There is what is called the Scientific Approach where scientist have an idea or theory and based on their observation will either support the theory or the theory can be falsified by their peers. Data also goes through a review period before it is published in a scientific journal by scientist who have the knowledge and expertise to evaluate it. I also learned the difference between basic and applied research where basic research focuses mostly on things such as emotion, cognition, social behavior, personality development, learning, and neuropsychology. Basic research will be more helpful for answering fundamental questions about the nature of behavior. Applied research however, addresses more of a specific problem with a possible solution. Program evaluation covers a large area of applied research. Program evaluation assesses the social reforms and innovations that occur in government, education, the criminal justice system, industry, health care, and mental health institutions. When discussing behavioral research it is imperative to note the precedents that it has in many fields and the significance of the applications to public policy. • 8. Research Methods Essay Quantitative and Qualitative are said to be systematic in different design. Both design have to follow a process system that involved defining a principle of research. General speaking, quantitative research is thought to be objective, however qualitative research often involves a subjective element. There are differences designs in qualitative research in comparison to quantitative research. Qualitative research involves words, pictures, or objects; Quantitative involves data in the form of numbers and statistics. However, the researcher uses in–depth interviews in qualitative research to find out how the subjects view their world. In quantitative research the researcher uses precise measurement to predict hypotheses. Whereas,...show more content... Qualitative research is conducted in a natural setting and attempts to understand a human problem by developing a holistic narrative and reporting detailed views of informants about the culture of a problem. It forms a report with pictures and words. One of the most important distinctions that sets qualitative research apart from more traditional types of research is that qualitative research is holistic in that researchers study phenomena in their entirety rather than narrowing the focus to specific defined variables" (p. 93). Similarly, Cresswell (1984) indicated that qualitative research "is defined as an inquiry process of understanding a social or human problem, based on building a holistic picture, formed with words, reporting detailed views of informants, and conducted in a natural setting" (p. 2). Cresswell's definition clearly delineates the major characteristics of qualitative research. Pg. 50 (Smith & Davis, 2010). Pg. 51 (Smith & Davis, 2010). "How do researchers evaluate trustworthiness?" Guba and Lincoln (1994) proposed that trustworthiness could be judged by the following criteria: conformability, dependability, credibility, and transferability. For Example, Qualitative researchers use conformability, dependability, credibility, and transferability to evaluate the trustworthiness of a qualitative research report. In order to prevent researcher bias they can have other researchers point out Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Sampling Methods Essay Sampling is the framework on which any form of research is carried out. A suitable sample that meets the inclusion and exclusion criteria of a research design must be chosen from a given population to carry out studies. In this essay comparison is made between stratified random sampling and convenience sampling. The population on which the researcher is interested in carrying out his or her research may be too large, therefore a suitable sample which can represent the population in correct proportion must be chosen. Restraints such as limitation of time, resources and many other factors necessitate the selection of a sample for research purpose so that better quality data is obtained from it and that the researcher can make statement about...show more content... The methodological strength and weaknesses of this two sampling methods is discussed in terms of identifying the samples for research, the representativeness it possesses to the general population, the methods and the outcome. Stratified random sampling is a probability sampling where the selection of sampling unit is left to a random process, all units in the sample has an equal and non–zero chance of being selected on a probability ground or chance and not on the choice or judgement of the researcher (Sim,J and Wright,C. 2000,). Convenience sampling is an example of non probability sampling where the selection of the units is not by chance, rather it is dependent on the researcher's judgement, the researcher decides the samples to be included in the study which may be subject to availability, time, individual preferences etc. The probability of selection of a particular sampling unit may or may not be known. Stratified random sampling is commonly done in quantitative researches. When the samples reflect the characteristics of the target population in the same proportion; assumptions can be made on generalizing the data acquired from these samples provided it has been done correctly, since it is statistically representative (Sim,J and wright,C.,2000) but sampling error Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Importance And Purpose Of Research Essay Importance and purpose of research Research is important to understand, increase knowledge, and get information for social life. Social research is conducted to extend knowledge about some aspects of society like humanities, business or any social science [asi]. Research is used to form or develop new theories in order to understand the process behind particular event or behavior, or review the correctness of existing theories. In addition, research is also conducted to inform decisions or action to solve everyday issues such as evaluating the effectiveness of policy. [abr] and [brm] of the business research emphasis on the importance of research as getting problem–solving information. Research is the process of studying and analyzing the aspects of the issue as to explore the solution to the business. The summaries of the core objectives of research are testing existing knowledge, developing new system or generating new knowledge, seeking solution for issues, and analyzing new problems or investigating existing problems [br]. Quantitative and Qualitative Paradigm [br] a research paradigm is a philosophical perspective that guides how scientific research should be conducted. Philosophy is 'a set or system of beliefs [stemming from] the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence' (Waite and Hawker, 2009, p.685). • 11. Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. • 12. How I Learned And Developed My Writing Skills This semester I was surprised by how much I actually learned and developed my writing skills. I was given the opportunity to learn the many steps that it is required to become a good writer. Writing requires a lot of work. It consists of various steps; prewriting, drafting, rewriting, proofreading and publishing. . All of these components are extremely important, and necessary, and will need to be follow to improve student's writing. I feel my writing has improved due to the help of the writing process and all the writing assignments I experienced. I was able utilized each of these components this semester. I wrote various journals and two essays, which were very challenging to me. The first essay I was asked to write, was a Narrative essay about an experience in which later I questioned my actions. At first, I was very nervous due to I have never written an essay before. I did not even know where to begin. I struggled during the whole process of writing an essay. My biggest problem of all was putting my thoughts in order so I could make sense of what I wanted to say. I brainstorm for days trying to figure out a topic. With the help of the eLearning text information on module 2, how to choose a topic and developing a working thesis I started to write down some ideas. With the help of Module 3, Introduction to Narrative Essay, and the examples that were provided, I was able to start getting some ideas of what I wanted to write about. Maybe it is not just the prince charming you see in fairy tales or the perfect guy walking down Sixth Ave. that you pass by everyday to work. Maybe a good guy is simply someone that is good what they do. In this case the relationship between the grandmother and the misfit is just that. The only thing is if the reader sees it as clearly as the author would like them too or simply as she does. The setting of the story is never really clear to the reader. The author never really comes out and says where and when the story takes place, but with a few clues an idea is given on a pretty clear setting of "A Good Man is...show more content... But most of all, be prepared to see." –Welborn. There are many symbols in A Good Man is Hard to Find. "A Symbol is something that represents something else by association, resemblance, or convention, especially a material object used to represent something invisible." –Symbol. The first most obvious symbol is the Grandmother's hat. She wears the hat for one sole purpose; if she were to die she would want the ones who found her body to be able to identify her as a lady. When she prepares for the car trip, she prepares for any accident that may occur. For the grandmother the only thing that seems to matter to her is that she is recognized as a lady, this reveals her selfishness and flimsy moral convention. When the grandmother first gets ready for the trip, the hat is in perfect condition. No tears, no nothing. • 14. Reflection Paper On Marketing At the beginning of this class, my main objective was to learn more about finance and learn about marketing. When I first review the class's syllabus, I thought this class would be mainly about marketing and investments, but I was glad to find out that the class was about more than just marketing. I would definitely say that I met my objectives and even more because I learned more than I was expecting. This class helped developed a security about a business idea that was on my mind for years which is having my own private investigations company. Before this class, the idea of owning a company about something that I am very passionate about was only just an idea and I never thought I could have been developed a possible marketing plan. Thanks to this class, I was able to work on a marketing plan for my dream company. Even though some assignments were difficult, I felt that no one could have taken the excitement I felt every single time I sat down to work on my own business marketing plan. It is important to mention that my feelings about this great experience are truthful. I understand that some people might say that most students are not truthful when given feedback about the class or the professor because they fear retaliation, but I am very happy to say this is not the case for me. I am a very truthful person and I say it how it is, I am not the type of student that would write something nice to make the professor feel better or to avoid a low grade, I just Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Throughout this semester in the Introduction to Academic Research course, I learned a great deal about research. We covered a wide variety of topics that encompassed topics such as methods of field research, the unknowns when conducting research (the Black Box activity), the differences that exist among fields when using the word "research", and many others. I'll begin with what I learned about myself. Throughout this course, I learned a great deal about my future interests and the characteristics I exhibit when participating in a group project. When working with Rob Geis and Martin Castro, I searched constantly and relentlessly through the CIA database to find any information relevant to our project and the argument we wished to make....show more content... I believe my research interests lie within the American South. I am fascinated by the historic and economic elements of the region that I call home. I personally believe that learning about your interests is important but the strengths, values, and limitations that you bring to the table are more important. Learning this about yourself helps to address your own weaknesses and to find individuals that balance the research group out. Throughout this course, I also learned a bit about research. My concept of research changed very little. Throughout high school and the IB program, I learned how to evaluate sources, the importance of primary sources, and other elements of research. In my senior year, I completed an original work entitled "How has the internet changed the market structure of local news with reference to the Augusta Chronicle in Augusta, Georgia?". The research paper was over 24 pages and nearly 4,000 words long. I received an A (a grade received by 10.59% of all students involved in most difficult international high school program in the world) for my Extended Essay grade from the IB Economics examiners in India. I was also asked to complete research reports in other individual courses. One of these reports included my IB History of the Americas class. In this report, I examined how accurate the media portrayal of Jefferson Davis following the Civil War reflected his personality Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Experimental Research Designs Essay Experimental Research Designs "A correlational study determines whether or not two variables are correlated. This means to study whether there is an increase or decrease in one variable corresponds to an increase or decrease in the other variable" (Cherry, 2012). In most correlation studies there is a relationship between both variables that had a change, while in others there wasn't necessarily causation between the two (Cherry, 2012). An experimental design is one in which the researcher manipulates the independent variable to observe its effect the dependent variable. When conducting an experiment the researcher will use random assignment of the participants into a control group and the other the group that is being experimented on....show more content... The review is an examination of the literature that was gathered, pointing toward the answer of the research question. Literature reviewed typically includes journals, books, government databases and other sources. Sometimes it includes newspapers, magazines, films, and audio or video research (Literature Review, 2011). This is going over the literature that has been gathered and picking what is relevant to the hypothesis in the first place. Design the research methodology. o Research methodology is where you describe how you are gonna gather information and this can be survey interview or literature review. And then you explain each method what are they, what you will do to them. A survey is really good for research using statistics and literature review is great for all kinds of research. Determine the results. o The data from an experiment has been gathered, the researchers then compare the results to the control group and determine if the experiment was effective (Cherry, 2012). A good example of this is when a pharmaceutical company does research on certain types of new medicine. They used a control group that uses a placebo and the other group takes the medicine that is being researched. They then compare the results and this experiment can be taken several ways. Reach conclusions. o Once all the data is collected and the study is designed, the information is examined and conclusions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Methodology of Research Essay examples Methodology of Research The method that I will be using to research my area of sociology will be a structured questionnaire, it will be structured so that the candidates stick to the questions that they are asked and do not write about irrelevant matters. I will first of all produce a pilot questionnaire and send it round to a test group of people, and hopefully see whether or not I am able to obtain the relevant information that I need for my research with the questions that I have asked my targeted group of people. If the questionnaire provides me with my needed information, I will the produce more and send them out to a larger sample of people and obtain my...show more content... Also using a questionnaire is a quick way to obtain information and can cover a wide area of matters with just a few questions, whereas if I had used an interview as my method it would of taken a much longer amount of time and I might of not been able to get the answers that I needed out of my candidates. Another bonus of using a questionnaire, would be that once I have received all of the information I will be able to put my findings into the relevant tables, and then I will be able to compare my findings to the secondary data that I have gathered with and will be able to do this with ease. Because I am establishing the role of women within working class households and the effect that their roles have had on their families way of life. • 19. 3.0 Introduction Following a critical overview of the literature, this chapter outlines the research methodology. It will provide a justification for a qualitative methodological approach and specification of methods employed. Highlighting the appropriateness of interviews and focus groups in relation to the methodology and overall research. It will also provide recognition of their relative strengths and limitations. 3.1 Methodology/Methodological approach Research methodology and methodological approaches that is, the structured process of conducting research and the overall concepts and theories which underpin research respectively (Bryman, 2008), occupy a central position in the research process as they are both shaped by and translate the researcher's epistemological position. Epistemology then refers to a researcher's philosophical stance about the nature, derivation and scope of knowledge (Gilbert, 2008). These positions are seldom 'spelt out' but rather understood in the matter of research methodology and approach (Sarantakos, 2005). As this research is exploratory in nature that is, it sought to explore and examine decision–making, morality and 'sense–making' amongst human participants I was naturally orientated towards an interpretivist epistemological position. The central thesis of interpretivism is that knowledge, its origin and interpretation is founded on human subjectivities and as such complemented my own world view that knowledge is indeed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. The research Process Essay Processes of research by Jonathan Guy In this essay I will outline the primary methods of conducting research, their advantages and disadvantages and will outline where they are best utilised. In addition to this, I will select certain methods of research that I believe will be applicable to my own dissertation and state why I will use those particular methods to conduct my own research. The first question we should ask is what is research? John C. Merriam considers research as "a reaching out to bring together, organise and interpret what ever may be added to our store of knowledge...most truly exemplified when it involves the wider relationship of specific facts to the whole structure of knowledge". (C. Merriam, 1941, pg890) In other...show more content... It is the fundamental requirement in the advance of civilisation" (Merriam, 1929, 56–57). Whilst there seems little argument over whether we should conduct research or not, its importance being more than apparent, the question now becomes in what manner should we conduct research and what advantages do certain methods have over others. There are numerous ways of conducting research but the most prominent are the science and scientific methods, the logical methods, the case methods, the statistical methods, and the experimental methods each of which shall now be considered. First we shall consider the scientific method. There is much debate as to whether social studies can be considered a science on the basis of how it conducts its research but any claims that it is a science are based more or less entirely on the scientific method and rational choice, characterised predominantly by its use of facts and empirical evidence to support its claims with in political "science". Karl Pearson states the scientific method as "The scientific method is marked by the following features: (a) careful and accurate classification of facts and observation of their correlation and sequence; (b) the discovery of scientific laws by aid of the creative imagination (c) self–criticism and the final touch–stone of the equal validity for all normally constituted minds" (Pearson, 1911, 6–78). In other words, the scientific method is one which tries to discover Get more content on HelpWriting.net
