Being a twin is never something I asked to be, but I like to think that im lucky that it did. I mean
how many people can say that they grew up with someone literally from the moment they were
born till the day you both leave home. When I was younger I thought having a twin was the biggest
burden in my life, but now that I've come to appreciate him I would not want it to be any other way.
One of the biggest things i learned while being a twin was something I figured out before the first
day of middle school. It was how to find out who my real friends were, this problem was not as
much as an issue when I was younger then it is now. In 8th grade me and my brother started
hanging out in the same group and as much as this does not seem like a problem it was. How
would I know what girls wanted to actually be friends with me and who was just using me for my
brother? I guess i would struggle with that, and to be honest I still do. But Let's face it girls can
be sneaky but asking me to hangout, and then following with "Is your brother home" is not a good
strategy. Or when were at my house and they ask me "where's your brother". I never understood
why this would happen to me, am I not enough? I felt like if I never did anything wrong to them
why should they do this to me. Its hard to build a friendship with someone when they seem trusting

Imtiaz Dharker's poem can be read in two ways. A straightforward reading might suggest that the
poem is simply a description of an incident when a pipe bursts and people run excitedly for the water.
A more considered reading, however, would see the poem as being more ominous and disturbing.
Under the apparent good fortune and excitement of the scene are darker ideas about the poverty and

The beginning rays of the early morning fell slanting through my window as I woke to soft

Treating others with kindness benefits everyone involved. For example, in the story "Angel in
Disguise", the author states "We'll keep her a day or two longer; she is so weak and helpless," said
Mrs. Joe Thompson..." She was starting to open up to Maggie and realize that she loves her as if

I really enjoyed the fact that Deval Patrick did not just lecture the audience but told stories of his

We are so proud of all our children and felt blessed to witness our oldest receive her diploma from
nursing school on beautiful May afternoon. My life felt pretty rewarding and exceptionally happy
as I celebrated another boastful accomplishment from one of our four amazing kids. Three weeks
later that perfect life seemed to slip through my fingers with a call at three in the morning. The

changed; her attitude and ways of being were different, possibly due to her husband influencing
her to follow the customs that were placed during that time. When Douglass picked up a book or
newspaper it was quickly taken away from him. He was not about to give up. What Douglass had
learned from his mistress influenced him to fight for a better education. Douglass says in his text
that "mistress, in teaching me the alphabet, had given me the inch, and no precaution could
prevent me from taking the ell" (119). He did not want to be a slave for life. Instead, he wanted to
learn to read and write, and so he did just that. These two boys, Alexie and Douglass, grew up in
