Google Demographics
• 70% Men and 30% Women
• 61% White, 30% Asian, 3% Hispanic, 2% Black, 4% Two or more races.
• Google speaks on lack of diversity and why. Speaking on lack of
education opportunities for Minorities and women.
• Google has given $40 Million to organizations to bring computer and
science education for women and girls
Google Demographics
• “We’ve always been reluctant to publish numbers about the
diversity of our workforce at Google. We now realize we were
wrong, and that it’s time to be candid about the issues. Put
simply, Google is not where we want to be when it comes to
diversity, and it’s hard to address these kinds of challenges if
you’re not prepared to discuss them openly, and with the facts.”
Lack of Diversity
• While Google has an extreme lack of diversity for such a culturally
aware organization they have taken steps to further there diversity.
• First off by releasing there numbers/demographics. Many
organizations are very reluctant to show these to the public.
• Second by having diversity programs
• Third by donating money to help further Women/Girls education
Why a problem for Google?
• Inclusion factor matters.
• Do employees feel welcome?
• Do employees feel important?
• Does everyone have opportunity to be heard?
• If you look or dress differently are you welcome?

Five Steps to make Workplace more Diverse
1. Assess and define meanings of diversity applicable to your
environment.
2. Develop scenarios documenting challenges experienced as as a
result of each others assumptions beliefs, behaviors, biases,
prejudice, and values.
3. Conduct a SWOT analysis involving various stakeholders in your
organization and establish collaborative ranking of their responses
regarding matters of diversity.

4. Identify benefits of diversity and how to integrate those towards
organizational success in your agency’s mission, vision, goails, and
objectives.
5. Propose strategic diversity solutions as a holistically planned activity
in the life of your organization.

with someone with in your diversity group.
• Gives you opportunity to join a diversity group even if you don’t
identify within, but you hold to same values that people in the group
have.
