6. Overview
Under mandate of National Productivity and Continuing Education Council
(NPCEC), TAP is to fund Public sector performers such as A*STAR RIs,
Universities, Polytechnics, COIs and ITEs on productivity improvement
projects under Technology Developer (TD) Grant.
The intent is to fund Public sector institutions to translate existing
technologies to deployable solutions and subsequently transfer the
solutions to end-user companies.

• raise productivity of a process by 20%.

8. TD Fund Eligibility Criteria
1.
Applicant must be from a Public Technology Developer (Research Institutes,
Institutes of Higher Learning, Centres of Innovation, etc).
2.
Preferably, a minimum of 20% productivity improvement expected for
relevant business activities after project implementation.
3.
A group of a local companies, should be benefit from the developed solution.
At least 50% of the participating companies must be SMEs
Main Deliverables
•
Working solution ready to be deployed commercially and for adoptions
by companies.
•
Outreach event with TAP team to create awareness to the industry on
the developed solutions.

9. Project Examples
Dynacut - turning [SIMTech]
Problem statement: Local machining companies are in shortage of
highly trained engineers and still depend on trial and error approach for
solving machining problem such as machining vibration, which often
limits their productivity.
Solution: Dynamic simulation and optimization technology to quickly
provide optimal cutting condition.
Productivity improvement expected: 20% [Machining time reduction]
Company adoption expected: 20 companies

11. Proposals Gathering
Two approaches:
1. Top down approach: A industry wide problem statement
identified by TAP team and a grant call would be issued.
2. Direct approach is proposed where COIs, IHLs and RIs
can approach A*STAR with solutions to known industry
problems. Grant call is optional.
