the Lafayette Community Garden & Outdoor Learning Center

11. MANY HANDS
Many hands planted the seeds for this garden.
In December of 2008, members of Sustainable Lafayette Local
Foods Group imagined building a collaborative community garden
and outdoor education center. And, from this seed of an idea, a
mighty garden is growing.
Brainstorming sessions led to plans drawn up in 2010. An
agreement reached in 2011 with EBMUD and the City of
Lafayette placed the garden across from the Lafayette Reservoir.
More than 70 local families have expressed an interest in building
the garden and hundreds more are following the progress of this
project at www.sustainablelafayette.org.
