institutions responsible for medical education to
• Provide Framework for curriculum development.
• Formulate quality improvement plans.
• Establish system of evaluation/accreditation.
• Safeguard practice/medical manpower utilisation to
medicine.

PROS OF WFME STANDARDS
1. Demonstrate high degree of equivalence of structure, process and
product of medical schools worldwide.
2. Explicitly identified for basic , postgraduate and continued medical
education.
3. Provide room of modification/expansion according to regional,national
and institutional context to emphasize diverse educational program.
4. Quality assurance through self evaluation ,peer review/external
evaluation ,combination of both.
PROS OF WFME STANDARDS
5. Promote exchange of medical students worldwide.
6. Decrease Burden of judging doctors graduated from different countries.
6. Provide basis of broader recognition/accreditation by adapting internationally
accepted standards.
7. Continuous renewal process reflect dynamic process.
8. Division of area, subarea, standard (basic and quality improvement) make it user
friendly.
CONS OF WFME
1. Details regarding content and quantity are lacking.
2. Cost effectiveness issue for low-middle income countries.
3. Not applicable in every setting.
4. Lack of common relevance/disregard of local difference.
5. Compliance issue of institution, countries, regions all over the world.
6. Interference with autonomy/sense of control.
7. Risk of conformity.
8. Equation of global and western.
