3. In 1885 the Li-Ito Convention was an agreement the allowed China and Japan to put their troops in Korea.

5. After the job was done Japan refused to withdrawn their troops from the then Chinese controlled Korean area.

6. The war then began as a result on June 8 th 1894

8. It was the largest naval combat in the first Sino-Japanese war.

9. The Yalu River is located on the border between China and Korea.

10. However the battle was fought at the mouth of the river in the Korean Bay.

12. However, the reinforced position did not hold up to the ground troops that the Japanese forces had redistributed.

13. After a twenty-three day battle Weihaiwei fell to the Japanese on the February 12.

14. From there the Japanese went on to take over posts that governed the seas to Beijing.

16. Yingkou was a land battle between the forces of Meiji Japan and Qing China, fought outside the treaty port town of Yingkkou Manchuria.
