2. Who is covered by OSHA's
HAZWOPER standard?
 There are 5 distinct groups of employers and
employees fall under HAZWOPER Training
Requirements., this includes employees exposed
to hazardous substances including hazardous
waste and employees engaged in one of the
following operations as specified
by 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v).
• Clean-up operations

3. Is Online HAZWOPER training
acceptable for refresher training?
 Online HAZWOPER training meet some 8 hour
hazwoper refresher training requirements, the
course should cover topics relevant to workers
assigned duties.
 The course should cover a final exam developed
by a professional OSHA trainer and by an
assessment of hands-on performance of work
tasks.

4. What are the training or
certification requirements for
HAZWOPER trainers?
 The 29 CFR 1910.120, states in paragraph (e)(5) that
"Trainers shall be qualified to instruct employees
about the subject matter that is being presented in
training“, other requirements include work
experience, completed courses and academic. At this
time, OSHA does not have any specific requirements
to certify an instructor.

5. Types of HAZWOPER Training
 HAZWOPER 8 HOUR TRAINING
 The course includes nine sections associated
with Hazardous Waste Operations and
Emergency Response (HAZWOPER 8 Hour
OSHA Traning). They include Decontamination
and Confined Space Entry. Other topics include
Site Characterization, Hazard
Recognition, Toxicology, Personal Protective
Equipment and Emergency Procedures.

6. HAZWOPER 24 Hour Training
 HAZWOPER course comes with 24 hours of
instruction, as required by 29 CFR 1910.120(e)
(3). This is a government-mandated OSHA
Hazardous Waste and Emergency Response
training standard. This course has 14 sections
that deal with workplace hazards associated with
HAZWOPER. Upon completing the course, you
will receive a certificate that is accepted by OSHA
as documentation of training.

7. HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training
 HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training is required for
workers whose jobs put them in contact with
hazardous substances. Our HAZWOPER
training covers everything required in 29 CFR
1910.120, such as hazardous
chemicals, improving the safety of workers and
how OSHA regulations affect you.
