3. Introduction
Land forms are the natural shapes or
features called landforms.
There are many different types of
landforms found on the Earth.

4. Plains
An extensive level, usually treeless area of
land on Earth’s surface

5. Mountain
A natural elevation of the Earth’s surface
having considerable mass, generally steep
sides.

6. Fold Mountains
Fold mountains are the most common type of
mountain. The world’s largest mountain
ranges are fold mountains. These ranges were
formed over millions of years.
Fold mountains are formed when two plates
collide head on, and their edges
crumbled, much the same way as a piece of
paper folds when pushed together.

7. Block Mountains
Instead of the earth folding over, the earth's
crust fractures (pulls apart). It breaks up
into blocks or chunks. Sometimes these blocks
of rock move up and down, as they move
apart and blocks of rock end up being stacked
on one another.

8. Volcanic Mountains
Volcanic Mountains are formed when molten
rock (magma) deep within the
earth, erupts, and piles upon the surface.
Magna is called lava when it breaks through
the earth's crust. When the ash and lava
cools, it builds a cone of rock. Rock and lava
pile up, layer on top of layer.

9. River
A large natural stream of water emptying
into an ocean, lake, or other body of
water and usually fed along its course by
converging tributaries.

10. Plateau
Plateaus are raised areas of land with a
flatter top. It differs from a mountain in
that a mountain has a jagged peak at the
top. Plateaus form either when mountains
get worn down and their tops are not as
jagged or when a large portion of flat
earth is pushed up from the earth.
