3. Inspiration For the Game
The inspiration for my game came from the film I robot. The reason for this is because I robot is about robots
that are created for basic human purpose. To serve humans with whatever they want, until one day they decide
to turn against humans because of a machine. I thought this helped me a lot with the inspiration for my game as
it is based around a man made device that creates a type of slave. Then they decide to turn against humans
because of a machine which makes them independent. A game that inspired me to create my game was
quantum break. I chose this because it was a lot about freezing time using a device or ability. This inspired me
because it is about being able to help people through the means of a device.
4. Double world – backstory
In the year 2552 technology has been at its best for the past 1000 years, and within the millennium a device was created to serve human needs and
wants, they called this device the doppleganger. When equipped this device generates a living servant that must obey it masters commands to the
letter, these devices had safety's so that the dopplegangers would never revolt or take a human life. One day a man in a hospital was dying he knew
he wouldn’t last long as his life signs were dropping quickly he placed upon his wrist the device and generated his doppleganger, the man asked for
his immediate death but the doppleganger denied his request, minutes later the man passed, but something happened then know one could have
guessed the device malfunctioned and the doppleganger became its own being, in its frustration the doppleganger ran away but whilst leaving a
nurse spotted the doppleganger and was confused as she never seen one do that before, she panicked and tried to capture the doppleganger it
resisted and threw her back into the wall, the impact on her spine killed the women. Now the doppleganger was scared he had just killed a human
and found out he was the only version of himself to do so.
The doppleganger disappeared like smoke in the air. He thought to himself ‘’ if I can survive without my human maybe other can to’’ he went out to
design a machine that would simulate the device malfunctioning just like his own so that the dopplegangers could be free from human slave work.
2 Weeks later –
Radio transmission 1
“there everywhere they are killing of us please send help there free I repeat the dopplegangers are free’’.
This transmission was picked up by a rogue agency and played to its members they new that the dopplegangers had attacked recently but nothing
that big before, they decided amongst themselves to send out one of their own to destroy the machine and dopplegangers for good. The nameless
hero was chosen for his skills in the field and undercover work from the past. So he went out seeking the device and to destroy it.
3 weeks later –
Police Broadcast –
“ we’ve found the fugitive and are chasing him get all doppleganger units after him we need to stop him before he finds and destroys the final
machine”.
7. Target Audience
The target audience for my game is generally aged 16+. This game contains a lot of
strong language and violence from the outset. This game would be unsuitable for
younger audiences because of the contents within the game. That is why I have
decided to aim the game at young adults.
When deciding on the target audience for the game I new from the outset that the
game would have to be aimed at an older and more knowledgeable age group. The
reason for this is that if I had decided to make it for younger audiences, it may
become an influence for them to try and recreate the violence and language that is
represented in the game.
8. Survey/market research
I decided to take it upon myself and create a survey with questions relevant to my game idea and just some
general questions so that I can find out who my audience is. After I posted my survey I got 40 responses from
which I created a word document with the survey on and one response from a participant.
