Muscodor albus strain MFC2 was tested for its ability to inhibit two banana pathogens, Colletotrichum capsici and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. MFC2 was grown in two different nutrient mixtures and tested against the pathogens on agar plates. Both nutrient mixtures allowed MFC2 to grow well and inhibit the pathogens, with slightly better inhibition seen in the mixture containing potato dextrose agar. Further testing on banana is recommended to evaluate MFC2's potential for control of anthracnose in the field.
