Unit Plan Power Point
The Revolutionary War in full
From Rebels to Democracy
2. Day 1
S Day one I students will be gaining knowledge about the
colonies before the Revolutionary War.
S They will be using a Web Quest, a worksheet made by
me, and reading from a blog to obtain this information.
3. Day 2
S Day Two the students will begin learning about the
tension between the colonies and England and what the
main reasons were.
S The students will use a twitter page posing as a colonist
to protest about the taxes being enforced on them, then
they will create a flyer to “post around Boston” about the
Boston Massacre just like Paul Revere did.
4. Day 3
S Day three we will be focusing on the breaking points of
the revolutionary war. Mostly on the battles of Lexington
and Concord and Bunker Hill.
S We will be using Zello to try a modern day passing of
messages like the minute men did at the battle of
Lexington and Concord. Then I am going to make my
students make a YouTube video telling the story of the
battle of Bunker hill and how it all went down.
5. Day 4
S - Day 4 is the meat and potatoes of the lesson. This is when
the students are going to learn the main events of the
revolutionary war. I want my students to learn about the major
battles and leaders of the revolutionary war.
S Will be using Facebook to have my class discuss different
opinions about why different battles were so key for both sides.
I will be using a Web Quest to have my classes learn more
about the individual battles. Lastly I will be using paper and
color pencils so that my students will draw a diagram of a battle
of their choice.
6. Day 5
S This is the wrap up of the Revolutionary war. I want to discuss
how American and French forces surrounded the British at the
town of York Town. Then I want my students to learn a little
about the initial steps that Americans made once they had their
own nation.
S I want students to use Art’s and Bots to recreate the surrender
of the British at York Town. Then I want students to create a
blog and document how the new government is taking shape
day by day. Then watch a YouTube video on the official end of
the war.
