Folk ballad
- stories orally pass from one generation to another.
- originally sung.
- topics includes love affairs.
- has stanzas with four lines each.

- popular during 18th and 19th centuries
imitates the form and structure of the folk ballad

- Use imagery
- Put to music

6. Epic
 The word Epic has been derived a Greek word epikos,
which means a word, song or speech.
 Long narrative poem of heroism and grandeur.
 portray adventure of gods, princes, kings, knight, ect.

7. Epic is classified in to two
 original epic – originally in oral form. From an age when
a nation was conquering and expanding
 literary epic – usually known as art epic which imitate
or influenced by the original epic

- A medieval story of about 1,000 lines rhyming
couplets of generally 8-10 syllables per line
- Accompanied by harp or rote

development of the awit and korido during colonial period
Awit – originally sung in a slow tempo and is divided into
stanzas of four lines with 12 syllables.
Korido – from the spanish word ocuridos meaning event.
