Chipsets
 CONEXANT – CX2417x
MPEG-2/DIRECTV/DVB compliant, decoder IC solutions with embedded 32-bit
ARM920T RISC processor for high-definition digital TV systems with optional PVR
support. It is used in conjunction with CX2418x series (32-bit ARM926EJ-S CPU)
solution for MPEG4 AVC / H.264 decoding. It combines a flexible, multi-program
HDTV MPEG-2 video decoder, a dual program multi-format audio decoder, three
multi-standard dual stream transport processors, an advanced 2D graphics
processor, dual TV encoders, an HDMI transmitter, an RF modulator, a BTSC stereo
encoder, dual multi-plane display compositing engines, and a high performance, and
integrated peripheral I/O ports.
 Fujitsu - MB86H60
A highly integrated SoC with ARM1176JZF-S CPU @ 324 MHz. It decodes full HD
(1920dots x 1080 lines) video compressed in either MPEG-2 or H.264 and integrates
on a single chip the necessary processing functions for an HD broadcast receiver,
including processing of digital video, audio, and graphics. This makes the multi-
decoder product suitable for TVs, STB, and portable TV receivers.
 ST - STi5518
It integrates ST20C2+ 32-bit processor core, a dedicated block for DVB/DirecTV
transport demultiplexing and descrambling, modules for MPEG-2 video and audio
decoding with 3D-surround and MP3 support, advanced display and graphics
features, a digital video encoder and all of the system peripherals required in a
typical low-cost interactive receiver.
 XILINX SPARTAN FPGA
400K System gates, 8,064 logic cells, 4 DCM’s. To carry Transport streams to and
from other devices with similar interface.
Tuners
 MC44S803
Highly integrated third generation silicon tuner that receives 48 MHz to 861 MHz
radio frequency (RF) signals and converts them to a second intermediate frequency
(IF) of 30 MHz to 60 MHz. It provides two IF outputs to support systems with
multiple demodulators (e.g. one digital demodulator and one analog TV
demodulator).
 CX24118
Advanced Modulation Digital Satellite Tuner for DVB-S (QPSK), 8PSK and DVB-S2
applications offering excellent phase noise performance and very low
implementation loss.

Advanced Modulation DVB-S2 Demodulator and FEC Decoder complying complies
with the open DVB-S2 standard for advanced modulation (8PSK modulation with
LDPC/BCH Forward Error Correction), as well as legacy DVB and DTV specifications.

Low power and ultra-compact DVB-T single chip receiver which is DVB-H broadcast
compliant as well. Provides various error-rate monitors like C/N estimator,
Constellation and frequency response display, BER estimator, PER estimator.
 STV0297
QAM demodulator IC capable of decding ITU-T J.83-Annexes A/B/C and DVB-C
bitstreams. It also provides Integrated signal quality monitors and lock indicator.
 MXD0325
A high performance demodulator IC fully compliant with China Digital Television
Terrestrial Broadcasting (GB 20600-2006) standard and satisfying the stringent
performance requirements of the General Specification for Terrestrial Digital
Television Receivers (nation standard draft by MII). It supports all 330 modes defined
in the standard, including both the single-carrier and multi-carrier modes.

Case Studies
DVB Analyzer
It is a complete test instrument for digital TV signals according the DVB-T, DVB-C and DVB-
S/S2 standards, for standard definition (SD) TV and high definition (HD) TV with following
User Interface options.
a) Touch screen
b) Keypad
c) Rotary encoder
It supports following Audio-Video formats like MPEG-2, MPEG4 AVC H.264, AAC-PLUS.
It provides following types for basic measurement presentations
 Single frequency measurements: It allows presentation of demodulated signal (video
and audio) and all measurements (like MER, CBER, VBER, LBER, C/N, Power etc.)
available according to the kind of signal input and is displayed as a graph bar.
 Multiple frequency measurement in graphic mode: It provides a graphic presentation
(like a bar graph diagram) for one or two selected parameters for each frequency in a
frequency list.
 Multiple frequency measurement in batch mode (data logger): from a frequency list
provided, the instrument will perform a single scan by selecting each frequency in the
list and performing a complete measurement for the point selected. These results can
be stored into a file linked to the frequency list used and retrieved later.
 Antenna alignment presentation: This mode provides fastest possible graphic
presentation of input level for all frequencies in the band of interest (satellite or
terrestrial).
 Special constellation presentation: for each kind of modulation (DVB-T, DVB-C, DVB-
S/S2), including carrier-specific constellation in case of DVB-T.

Case Studies DVB Analyzer It is a complete test instrument for digital TV signals according the DVB-T, DVB-C and DVB- S/S2 standards, for standard definition (SD) TV and high definition (HD) TV with following User Interface options. a) Touch screen b) Keypad c) Rotary encoder It supports following Audio-Video formats like MPEG-2, MPEG4 AVC H.264, AAC-PLUS. It provides following types for basic measurement presentations  Single frequency measurements: It allows presentation of demodulated signal (video and audio) and all measurements (like MER, CBER, VBER, LBER, C/N, Power etc.) available according to the kind of signal input and is displayed as a graph bar.  Multiple frequency measurement in graphic mode: It provides a graphic presentation (like a bar graph diagram) for one or two selected parameters for each frequency in a frequency list.  Multiple frequency measurement in batch mode (data logger): from a frequency list provided, the instrument will perform a single scan by selecting each frequency in the list and performing a complete measurement for the point selected. These results can be stored into a file linked to the frequency list used and retrieved later.  Antenna alignment presentation: This mode provides fastest possible graphic presentation of input level for all frequencies in the band of interest (satellite or terrestrial).  Special constellation presentation: for each kind of modulation (DVB-T, DVB-C, DVB- S/S2), including carrier-specific constellation in case of DVB-T.
