 Edward known as the „motion
picture father‟.
 „The Horse In Motion‟ – Created to
prove that horses float in mid air
when running.
 He created the illusion of the
movement by setting up a series of
cameras. These triggered 50
cameras to take pictures as the
horse ran pass.

4. KINETOSCOPE
 Greek word „Kineto which means “movement”
and “scopos“meaning “to watch”.
 The machine operates on a film threaded rollers
where a series of images is continually rolled
over a tiny projector.
 The viewer may then look through the view finder
to see these rolling images, creating a short film
„look a like‟.

5. KEY POINTS
 Edward Muybridge – created the
horse in motion effect to prove a
point. Went to large scales to prove
this point (50 Cameras).
Edison - Was given full credit
for the creation of the
Kinetoscope however it was his
assistant who actually created
it as he was a photographer.
