• The objective is to compare the outcome of
a poster on antibiotics prescribing practice
of Residents

Antibiotics are indicated in cases of
bacterial infections but in today’s practice
antibiotics are used indiscriminately in
every prescription thus great chance of
developing resistance against these
antibiotics in coming days. Soon we will be
left with no antibiotics which will be
effective against these organisms. So there
is a need to restrict the use of antibiotics
specially in those cases where there is
absolutely no indication of using them.

We propose a poster urging residents to stop
and think once more before prescribing
antibiotics if pasted on the walls of each
opd chamber , the residents will reduce
unnecessary prescriptions of antibiotics.

Trial Design
• This trial has been designed as a
prospective, double-blind, randomized
controlled trial, in which the antibiotic
prescribed cases will be compared before
and after a poster pasting in opds.

opd chamber a poster urging residents to
stop and think once more before prescribing
antibiotics.
• We shall count the number of prescriptions
containing antibiotics after one day, one
week and one month after poster
