2. Background on the Sustaining Leaders Academy
The Sustaining Leaders Academy, a 2016-2017 LSTA-funded collaborative initiative
between PSLA and the University of Pittsburgh School Library Certification Program,
provided professional development for 23 mid-career PA librarians, allowing them to
pursue a Personalized Learning Experience—based on their own curiosity.
Each Sustaining Leader was matched with a mentor, participated in a four-day
immersive experience during which they developed a personalized learning experience,
and over the school year received guidance and affirmation from theirs mentors and
peers in f2f and video-conferencing sessions.
3. The Sustaining Leaders Gallery Crawl of Great Library Programs

successes through their posters with
conference attendees in a “gallery
crawl” on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
• Their posters reflected their
Personalized Learning Experiences—a
new program idea that creates positive
awareness of the value of the school
library.
