First Option
Dynamics
When Wales recovers the ball they search for Ramsay or
Bale. Bale prefers to control the ball and progress with it,
and Ramsay on the other hand, usually goes for the
pass.
Robson-Kanu was great in this game, not only in the
danger zone but also creating space for his team-mates
to unbalance the opponent´s defense.
Joe Allen also takes a role in this situations, speacially
with his long pass ability.

Searching for Space
Dynamics
The 3-defenders system with the support of Gunter and
Taylor, liberates Bale, Robson-Kanu and Ramsay for the
transition. Ramsay was great searching for the spaces
created by Robson-Kanu and the spaces left by the
Belgium defense.
Although they prefer to start the process in the middle,
they search the wings for the cross, taking advantage of
the aerial ability of Bale and Robson-Kanu (later
replaced by Vokes, who scored the 3-1 with a great
header).
Therefore, Wales tried to attract the defense for the
wings, and create space in the middle.

Shooting Zone
Dynamics
Opting to create from the line, they’re really dynamic in
the middle to confuse the opponents.
Robson-Kanu was great looking for interior zones, and
then looking for the cross to the second post.
The midfielders searched for the penalty area or the first
post, usually coming from behind like Joe Allen in the
second photo.
The advantage they have in this kind of situations is
reinforced with the variety of solutions they present with
crosses for the first and second post, and also the late
cross for one of the midfielders.

Shots
Dynamics
It is curious to see Ashley Williams as the biggest shooter
of the team, specially due to his efficiency in the set plays.
Suffering a goal at minute 13, and being the underdog,
could lead Wales to a bad situation. But as we can see,
after suffering the goal and until the half time break, Wales
reacted and shot 7 times (50% of the total shots almost)
and scored the equalyzer. This gave hope to Bale and his
team-mates for the second half.

The Goals
Dynamics
The first organizer of the team – Joe Allen, got the ball
unmarked by Belgium defense. This gave him time to
think and execute. The direct style of Wales, made the
ball reach the last third fast and easil, putting pressure
on the opponent to react quickly.
The 2vs1 in the danger zone lead to Robson-Kanu
moment of the day. With one heel touch, he takes 2
defenders out of the play, and comes up in front of the
goal, completely alone.
The player covering the space in the back was too far
away to try the interception, and Robson-Kanu scores
the 2-1.

The Goals
Dynamics
Again, the direct and fast approach of Wales lead to
instability in Belgium’s defense.
Belgium was trying to put pressure on the first line of
construction and if we look, there’s a 6vs6 situation in the
beginning of the play.
Chester puts the ball in space for Gunter, who crosses
with enough space.
And here we understand the problem of the 6vs6
situation on the beginning of the play – Vokes finds
himself 1-on-1 with Alderweireld. Being taller and with
less minutes in-play, Vokes wins the duel and seals the
result 3-1.
