2. I have chosen to use ‘Muddicuts Hair Gallery’ as one of my main locations for the creation of my music video. I decided on using
this as a location as I feel its appropriate and link with the genre that I’m going for, this is because rappers today are always seen
with a new crazy hairstyle with patterns etc.. I also picked this location because of the colour scheme of the shop. Both red and
black have their own connotations that I feel work well with the style of my video. On one hand red connotes the danger and
power side whereas black focuses on the evil and mystery aspect. The lighting setting in the shop is also helpful as it will enable
me to film at night which is what I wanted.
3. For my secondary location I haven chosen to use the outside world, this could be anything
such as car parks, alley ways, streets and many more. I decided to use the outside world as a
location of mine as I don’t feel restricted in what I can film. As my music video is of the Hip-
Hop/Rap genre and is quite up beat I feel I should be filming in as many places as possible.
Filming in a variety of locations will also give my music video more of a narrative which shows
its not just about performance. Watching Hip-Hop/Rap videos in general have inspired me to
use outside locations as I aim to create a video which is similar in style. Filming like this will
also be effective for me as I won’t be needing additional equipment because of the natural
lighting which may also give my music video more of a realistic tone.
4. Another location I would like to film is the ‘Black Box’ drama room. Filming in this location will be good for the lyrics part of my
song as the lighting is extremely clear. This location is also effective and will benefit my music video as its completely black which
means the lights will only focus on my artist, this will also give my music video a different look and it will be switching from a
trapped artist who is alone to the outside world where he is somewhat free and the audience will see a completely different side
to him. Using the ‘Black Box’ will also put emphasis as he is all the audience will be able to see. Another reason I would like to
use this location is the variety of shots I will be able to take and I will be able to adjust the lighting best suited to the song. This
will also be easier when filming as there will be no distraction whereas other locations face that problem.
