Many decisions are made as part of the creative multimedia production process. Learn how the rhetorical modes of exposition, argument, and narration shape the choices that authors make in the multimedia composition process. In making strategic decisions about how to inform, entertain, and persuade, seven types of media can used for creating to learn: image slideshow, infographics, video production, web site/blogging, podcasting, animation, and remix production. Recognize the affordances and limitations of each media type that need to be considered in light of your purpose, target audience, point of view, timetable, experience, and access to resources. It’s important to be aware of the generic features that shape the tone and sensibility of diverse works. By making strategic decisions in selecting the appropriate type of production based on a careful consideration of specific factors, people advance their deep learning of academic content while creating to learn.
