1. Google Introduces New CAPTCHA Test
Google has introduced a new type of CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to Tell
Computers and Humans Apart) test to see if users are humans or bots. Google's previous test, called
reCAPTCHA, can be annoying because the letters and numbers can be difficult for humans to read.
Often people have to reload the CAPTCHA box numerous times until they can identify the letter or
numbers. This can get very frustrating.
Google's new test is called No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA. People do not have to identify letters and
numbers and type them into a box. All they have to do is click on a box. The new service
automatically lets real people pass through without a CAPTCHA thanks to its advanced risk analysis
engine. This will certainly be a big relief for many web users. Users will still have to go through the
old reCAPTCHA test in situations where the risk analysis engine cannot identify the user as a
human. Take a look:
Unfortunately, the new system analyzes mouse movements which means it will not work for mobile
phone and tablet users. For mobile, Google is introducing a new image-based test. Users will have to
select images that match a given image, such as a picture of a turkey or cat. Hopefully, this will
work out better than having to enter words and numbers.
