1. Welcome to PEER* Solutions
PrinEval-MN
The PEER* Solutions system provides a framework to manage the
evaluations of school principals in Minnesota. Over the course of
a year, the PrinEval-MN system will guide and support you through
a self-evaluation, a confidential stakeholder survey, and the
supervisor’s evaluation.
During the school year, the PrinEval-MN system allows both the
Principal and the Evaluator to record information and reflections.
The system, at the end of the process, will generate a completed
Evaluation Summary and Professional Growth Plan.
The following slides will provide you with a ‘snap shot’ of some of
the steps of the evaluation process.
2. PrinEval-MN includes several
steps and the user is guided
through each step.
The system prompts both the
Evaluator and the Principal on
what to prepare and what to
input for each step of the process.
At each step, a user can back up
to the previous step to review or
refine information.
Each user can keep both personal
notes and a record to be shared.
3. Set up of each step:
In each step, there are two or
three sections.
On this screen, we show you an
image from Step 1-Opening
Engagement. It shows the
directions for “Work to be
completed Prior to Meeting”
The other prompt is “Meeting
Agenda” which will detail an
agenda to follow for the opening
engagement meeting.
4. Survey:
PrinEval-MN uses the same survey
questions in the self evaluation,
stakeholder survey, and for completion
by the evaluator.
This electronic survey has 5 core
sections, each with 8 inquiries. It is
aligned with the MN Principals
competencies and the work of the
MDE. The snapshot of a portion of the
survey presented here showssome of
the Vision and Mission section.
PEER* Solutions is using a professional
panel to refine each core section for
validity. A 6th section allows users to
frame their own statements.
Responses to the core sections can be
anonymously compared to other users
of the system across the state.
5. Step 4 is Evidence Collection.
PrinEval-MN helps the Principal
and Evaluator enter data
regarding findings, records of
observations, and student
achievement data.
It is the combined responsibility
of the Principal and Evaluator to
determine what student
achievement data will be
considered and what goals should
be set in regard to student
performance.
6. Evaluation Report:
The system will generate a final
evaluation report. Each of the
core competencies can be scored
with the following rating:
Unsatisfactory
Satisfactory
Accomplished
Distinguished
Developing
Section Two of the report scores
the principal on student
achievement and the Evaluator
and Principal can agree on SMART
Goals for the future.
7. Professional Growth Plan:
From the Evaluation Summary, a
Professional Growth Plan can be
established.
In each step of the process, both
the Principal and the Evaluator
are able to enter shared data and
private observations. When the
Evaluation Summary and the
Professional Growth Plan are
finalized, only the shared data will
be reported. Private reflections
remain private.
8. Final Evaluation Report:
At the very end of the process,
the system will produce a final
Evaluation Summary including a
‘signature’ step so that both the
Evaluator and the Principal can
sign off.
Apdf is created for printing and
processing. Of course, that
electronic file is available to
upload into the system for
another year…
9. • The PEER* Solutions PrinEval-MN is designed to provide a step by step process of
principal evaluation. It meets the requirements of MN Statute and yet is designed
to be simple enough for school districts to use efficiently.
• In purchasing the PrinEval-MN system, a separate purchase must be made for each
principal so that a discreet set of passwords can be assigned.
• We thank you for considering the use of the PrinEval-MN system and hope it
meets your expectations.
