Using the voice
1. Using the
voice
The most important instrument as teacher is
our voice, because it has a crucial impact in
both on class and the students.
2. There are three issues considering
the use of the voice:
Audibility

3. Audibility
Teachers need to have audibility; they
must be sure that all students can hear
them.
Teachers’ voice need to be effective in a
variety of circumstances.
Audibility and voice quality should always
go together.
4. Variety
When the students
are distracted, the
teachers have to use
suitable voice tone
(do not necessary
have to shout) to
make themselves
understood and
catch their
attention.
5. Variety
Teachers have to vary the quality of
their voices according to the type of
lesson or activity.
o Volume: how long or softly teachers
speak
o Pace: how teacher use pausing
(quickly or slowly)
o Pith: how high or low is
teacher's voice range go
o Modulation: how teachers
adjust the tone of their voice.
6. Conservation
Conserving the voice is one of the things teachers
should take into account when planning a day's or
a week's work.
It is important that teachers breathe correctly so
that they do not strain their larynxes.
