2. 2. Warm-Up <ul><li>Can you find the factor and the multiple in the following problem? </li></ul><ul><li>5 X 10 = 50 </li></ul>
3. 3. What is a factor? <ul><li>A factor is a whole number multiplied by another number to find a product. </li></ul><ul><li>2 X 3 = 6 </li></ul><ul><li>In other words, a factor is asking, “What can we divide the number by? </li></ul><ul><li>6 ÷ 3 = 2 </li></ul><ul><li>6 ÷ 2 = 3 </li></ul>
4. 4. Practice <ul><li>Find four factors for each number: </li></ul><ul><li>8 </li></ul><ul><li>1, 2, 4, 8 </li></ul><ul><li>6 </li></ul><ul><li>1, 2, 3, 6 </li></ul>
5. 5. Multiples <ul><li>A multiple is the product of two counting numbers. </li></ul><ul><li>6 x 3 = 18 </li></ul><ul><li>In other words, a multiple is the answer you get when you multiply. </li></ul><ul><li>7 x 2 = 14 </li></ul>

7. 7. Warm-Up Check Remember the warm-up problem: 5 X 10 = 50 Can you identify the factors? Can you identify the multiple? Factors: 5, 10 Multiple: 50
