4. nervous A person who is nervous is afraid or worried. Example: I feel nervous when I have to perform in front of a large group of people. When do you feel nervous?

5. chuckled What does the –ed ending mean on most words? You may have chuckled, or laughed quietly, when you saw something funny. Example: I chuckled when I heard the joke. How is chuckled different from laughed out loud?

6. nonsense Nonsense is a silly or untrue idea or thought. Example: I was afraid to go to the library but my mom said my fears were nonsense. What is something that you think is nonsense?

7. fumbled What does the –ed ending mean? If something is fumbled, it is done in a clumsy way. Example: He fumbled around the the dark trying to find the light switch. When have you fumbled around or fumbled into something?

8. trudged What does the –ed ending mean? Trudged describes a way of walking slowly and dragging one’s feet. Example: The tired student trudged up the hill to his house. Can you think of a reason why you might have trudged somewhere?
