● a free online library
● open access to anyone with internet connection
● hosts digitized content including books,
photographs, maps, audio clips, manuscripts, etc.
● receives data from over 1,100 various sources
including other libraries, universities, archives,
historical societies, museums, etc. throughout the
United States
● Took 2.5 years for development
