2. Most Practical Web 2.0 Applications Blogger http://atillman-appleforthoughts.blogspot.com/ Wikispaceshttp://mrstillmanwiki.wikispaces.com/ Podcasts http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ Delicious http://www.delicious.com/
3. Blogger Blogger is most practical for my students because… It allows for discussion through writing amongst students of topics or books read. Students can have time to “think” about their responses to questions and discussion before posting, allowing “shy” students to communicate thoughts and ideas more easily. 3. It offers an authentic audience to their ideas making them take more pride in their responses.
4. Blogger Blogger is most practical for me because… It allows for me as the teacher to model thoughtful writing responses for my students. I am able to communicate with my students not only at school, but from home. 3. I can read and discuss ideas with other educators.
5. Wikispaces Wikispaces is most practical for my students because… It allows for an arena to collaborate with each other when creating projects. It gives them a place to “publish” writing and other projects to an authentic audience.
6. Wikispaces Wikispaces is most practical for me because… I can use it as a place to communicate with my students and parents and keep them updated with classroom expectations such as when assignments and projects may be due. It allows for a place to create an assignment for my students giving them links for their use when doing research. I have a place to upload videos, podcasts, and widgets for student use.
7. Podcasts Podcasts are most practical for my students because… They allow for students to work on listening skills (great for auditory learners). They are a great way to introduce students to a topic/subject to be studied. Students have another project option to present what has been learned giving them an authentic audience. They can hear themselves and make corrections they may not have been seen on paper.
8. Podcasts Podcasts are most practical for me because… Many are available to explain a subject or topic in a different way. They can be accessed at home. (Great if a student is absent!) Many topics are available to me as an educator to help me grow professionally.
9. Delicious Delicious is most practical for me because… It allows me to store and save websites found in one central location. I can access my saved websites from any computer at any location. I allows me to tag my websites for easier access. I can share my sites with other educators as well as find sites from other educators that I can also use.
10. Convincing Administration and Parents of Web 2.0 Use Invite principals, superintendents, and parents into the classroom to view students at work using Web 2.0 tools. Prepare a presentation of researched based “best uses” to share with parents and administration. Share wikis and blogs for parents and administration to view. Explain to parents and administration of steps to be taken to assure security for students.
11. So Much More To Learn! As a life-long learner, I know that there will always be new and improved technologies and web applications for me to explore and bring into my classroom. I want to learn more about podcasts and ways to have my students use podcasting to present material learned. Online professional development opportunities are a great way for me, as an educator of the 21st century, to continue my journey and learn more about these Web 2.0 applications. What an exciting time to be a part of the learning that must take place amongst our youth of today!
