 a claim that asserts some things are more or
less desirable than others.
 States that one thing or idea is better than
another.
 Right vs. Wrong.
 Either “good” and should be kept or “bad” and
should be discarded.

1. Establishing standards of evaluation.
2. Note the priority of the value in this instance.
3. Establish the advantage of your standards.
4. Use examples to clarify abstract values.
5. Use credible authorities for support.
