It is a constant characterization that gives life meaning and sustains survival efforts within the
community. The Black Church gave an outlet for a number of talented blacks to express themselves
and develop self–respect and pride (Thompson, 124). These developments were critical in preparing
a person for the experiences they have after leaving the ghettos. For example, once a young black
person enters into the mostly white school, they come to understand that there are really no

through similar struggles to become respected citizens of the United States. With this knowledge
each individual has the opportunity to see that the hatred during the time not only comes down to race

Education has been a part of my life ever since I was born. My mother is a teacher, and I have
always been in her classroom, and seeing her teaching kids is something I feel I knew I wanted to
do ever since I was little. As I grew older, I had a rough time in school. I was identified with a
learning disability in the fourth grade which helped me become successful and also made school
difficult too. The impact education has had on my life is why I want to become a teacher.
My mother has been a teacher for over 25 years, and is still going. When I was little, around the
ages of three–four, I would go into her classroom to 'visit' her class. Even as time progressed I
would go and watch her in the classroom, and eventually went to the same school she taught at. My
mother would bring books home that she did not need anymore and other classroom supplies for
me to play school. I would play school with my imaginary students, pretending I was the teacher and
they were my 'perfect classroom of students'. My 'classroom' eventually grew into friends who would

stable happy life. The problem is that high schools are only promoting one option and failing to

Up until I got into high school. I actually enjoyed school prior to my transition into high school. I
was a B student and quite happy with a 3.0 GPA. At the time, I really did not give my education
much thought. In other words, I did not think about my future then, and education had little value
in the great scheme of life. However, I still enjoyed school, and had perfect attendance not missing
a day unless it was absolutely a must. Unless I had a rare case of some unforeseen sickness as to

forth. Gladwell exclaims that "Practice isn't the thing you do once you're good. It's the thing you do
that makes you good." If you are willing and able to practice something for 10,000 hours you

candy shop; his eyes were wide and full of joy and excitement. He called home every week with
his updates and experiences; he appeared to be doing very well. His 2nd year of college he found
himself on the Dean's list. This did not come easy; he dedicated all of his time and hard work to
his studies. We were so proud of his accomplishment. As time went on, he was constantly calling,
but no longer with updates with his studies, now it was about joining this group, and pledging
that fraternity. By his 3rd year of college, his grades were dropping; he was not studying as much
as he was in the beginning and he was now partying. He grew bored of his classes associated with
business; his friends were in marketing so he changed his major to marketing. He never took
ownership for his grades failing or his excessive partying. We had long talks with him about
making more of an effort with his studies and less on his social life. The more we discussed his
failing grades the more he blamed us for being in school, not remembering it was his idea to be the
first from his family to graduate. Today, it has been eight years since he started school

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Education
Education is undeniably vital and essential for people from all walks of life. Education is the key
to success, and as we all know it, there are too many reason why education is important in our lives
but none on the disadvantages of it because education only brings benefits towards us. According to
Oxford Dictionary, the word 'education' is derived from Latin, Д“ducДЃtiЕЌ in the mid–16th century
and is defined as "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or

Students are often heard whining to their parents about school and finding a thousand and one
excuses not to go to school but as little as we realize, schools actually help build our character and
leads us to our career progression. An educated individual is capable of planning for the future,
choosing the right decisions in life and behaving appropriately. Education is not only a pathway to
our career but also paves the path to disillusionment. It gives us the insight on what is right and
wrong, making clear judgements and shapes our personalities. The nation's growth depends on the

easily get an entry of a job while at the same time help develop the nation. Most countries realized

During my K–12 education I feel that it taught me how to fake it until I make it. You think school
teaches you how to be an adult in the real world but it only teaches you how to be complaint. I
never really thought about what I gained as a member of society. I think school tried to teach me
where my place is. I learned how even though this is 2017 and women don't have to sit and look
pretty, students are expected to sit and look pretty so to speak. For 12 years to earn a piece of
paper I learned that I am expected to follow traditional rules and methods. I am expected to do as
my teacher says because their title is teacher that means according to society they are smarter and
better than you. I learned that my opinion and my thoughts have no merit compared to people with
more experience. So thank you to 12 years of sitting in a class for 8 hours everyday to learn how to
fake compliance.
In the Working class schools, Knowledge was described as a set of facts to be learned. Creativity
was not important enough to be incorporated into the curriculum. During Elementary and Middle
school we were taught to sit still and memorize facts,information and that there is one way of doing
things, the teachers way. This form of education teachers individuals to follow other people's way of
thinking and behaving. This is how schools prepare the future workforce population to follow the
leader. In this type of setting students aren't taught to think for themselves or solve problems with
new ways of thinking or unconventional methods. Teachers want you to be compliant and those who
resist are perceived as a somehow less functioning member of society.Students act out and refuse to
do the tasks given to them in class not because they don't want to learn but because the teachers
aren't teaching them. So people who refuse to accept the Hidden curriculum integrated in our
education are perceived as drop outs, stupid,bad kids instead of being seen as kids looking to be
taught not going to school and memorize what is already written. In the Middle class school,
knowledge was presented as understanding curricular material. There was less fact memorization
and an encouragement for students to understand the content of the
