1. Treatment sheet Alex McMorris
Background to the song
“Lose control” is a song by The Saturdays taken from their second album “Wordshaker”. The song was not released as a single for the charts. The song is very similar to those The Saturdays have released into the charts with same elements of a dance; also pop, up beat track. The Saturdays are a group of five girls. There audience is mainly teenage girls however they do aim for an older audience, however in general, a female audience.
The Music video My aim is for my music video to be more performance based than narrative. I would like to have a choreographed dance routine within the video and have the characters dancing in a group and on their own. I do intend to include some narrative as within some parts of the song, I would like the shot I display within the video to match the lyrics being sung at that point in the song. I think that mixing up the two ways to perform, my video will be a lot more interesting and this will enable me to attract a wider audience. Also during the recording and editing I will be able to use a large variety of editing techniques and camera shots.

Within my video I am to have around 4 – 5 characters present. I would like them to be all female, however there is a mention of a male at one point in the song but I don’t think I will use a male for filming. I would like my video to be crammed with all different shots. As the song is very upbeat I want to make sure that I have quick shots that will keep the audience interested and hopefully prevent them from becoming bored.
I aim to have the characters all wearing different costumes, maybe around 3 different costumes each throughout the full video. However more if needed because I know that costume plays a big part in making a video successful. I would like my music video to have a bold style. I aim to use very fashionable clothing items and very girly, as this is particularly how “The Saturdays” are presented to be. I aim to have all different coloured backgrounds; many close up shots of the characters to portray “Meat shots” and group shots of all the girls together to show they are a group and have a good relationship. I aim for the idea to be a group of young girls, enjoying themselves, letting their hair down!
Above I have selected screen shots of The Saturdays all dressed in different costumes all portraying the part of a different character.
Illustrating the lyrics As I have been analysing the song and starting to piece together how I shall illustrate what the lyrics say within my music video I have chosen specific ones to present as examples.
0:14 – 0:16. This is where the song officially begins. The first sets of lyrics are ‘ I always used to be the shy girl’. When these lyrics are spoken I would like to have the screen split into three with three different girls in each quarter dressed in a variety of different outfits.
0:17 – 0:18. “Not a hot girl” – Next I would like the previous girl in the left hand, top corner to turn and look to her right where a character portraying a ‘hot girl’ will move on to speak the next lyric.
0:19 – 0:20 – “And not your type girl” Once again I aim for another girl to appear speaking this line dressed in another different outfit so they are all portraying the different characters within the lyrics!
0:24 – 0:25 - “About the right shoes” – Shots of all different shoes, heels, flats, boots, - changing quickly, all different colours.
0:25 – 0:27 “Making the right moves” Shoes dancing/moving in all different ways, leg kicked up in the air .
0:38 – 0:40 “ I should be the face of every fashion magazine” Get vogue cover imported into final cut and place an actresses face on the front moving, blowing a kiss and winking?!
0:41 – 0:44 “Oh!, Oooh, ooh” Close up of lips speaking words.
These are just some of the lyrics I have extracted from my plan for the full song!
