“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny
matters compared to what lies within us”. These famous
words of Ralph W Emerson prompt me to evaluate ourselves
on the basis of our motto “Think Good, Speak Good and Do
Good”. We planted a series of hope, happiness, faith and
enthusiasm in our minds, nurtured them with our sincere
efforts and confidence and enjoyed the successful result-
the fruits of exuberant achievements.
When I turn the pages of the record of events of the last
months I feel proud because, all my colleagues, supporting
staff, Parents, students and well-wishers proved that the joint
effort of each and everyone associated with the school can
produce fabulous results. Our thoughts were positive, our
words were weighed and our deeds were noble and
appreciable. We are now in that happy mood.
I take this opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate
the team work and the spirit of enthusiasm shown by the
staff, students, parents and well wishers to make the crown
of Viswajyothi colourful and precious than ever before.
With grateful mind and fruitful vision I pray that everyone
should open a merry heart in the coming academic year to
have a continual feast in academics, co-curricular and
extracurricular activities.
Best Wishes,

On 18th
February the staff trip was
conducted to Njarakkal. All of us enjoyed
the cool breeze of the back waters,
fishing, boating and sumptuous dining.
It was also the celebration of the
impending HOLI, the north Indian
festival of colours, of love and harmony.
The intoxicating scent and colours of
“GULAL” brought us back to our
childhood days of playfulness. No one
was spared. But “puchkaris” (to spray
colourful water) and tasty “gujiyas” (a
snack made on Holi) were not there.
Afternoon was spent on the beach. With
only half mind, we returned in the
evening.
ChavaraFest
We took part in the Chavara fest
on 11th
February 2012, conducted by
Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. The fest was
organized to pay reverence to our
patron Blessed Fr. Kuriakose Elias
Chavara. We presented a skit related
to the life of the blessed father. Many
schools coming under his patronage
participated in the fest and presented
programmes.

Some of them remembered their long 14 years’ experience
in the school. Though a few are new to the school, they
emphasized the point that a step in to Viswajyothi, means
for them, a large volume of positive experiences. Teachers
also shared their attachment with the students and blessed
them for their future endeavours. Management hosted a

First Aid Class
A report
On 22nd
Feb, a class on first aid was
conducted by Dr. Justin. He explained in
detail, on what occasion, a person will
need a first aid. Every day we hear about
accidents and some other casualties and
therefore we should be essentially
aware of some first aids. We have to
look for our safety also, when we are
trying to give first aid. For e.g., a person
gets an electric shock and we try to save
him. We must not touch the person, but
try to move him away with a piece of
dry wood or some other object which
does not allow electricity to pass. We
should switch off power and move the
person with the help of a wooden stick.
Wash the burnt area with the help of
cold water and inform the elders to help
us.
When a road accident or some other
accidents occur, we should see whether
the person is conscious and can talk. If it
is so ask him what happened, where is
the pain etc. only in brief because we
should convey it to the doctor. If the
victim is unconscious, get the help of
elders to see whether he /she is
breathing and if so immediately the
victim should be taken to the nearest
hospital.
The doctor also gave us some tips
about what to be done when there is
bleeding, cut, wound, snake bite, dog
bite, and bee/wasp sting and also if
there is a case of poison consuming.
The class was very effective and
informative.
The Interschool Quiz competition ‘Viswapratibha’
was conducted on 21st
February 2012, 14 schools
participated. After the preliminary, 6 teams qualified for
the finals. Chavara Public School, Pala, Chinmaya Vidyala
Vaduthala and Bhavans darash, Kakkanadu bagged the
first, second and third position respectively.

Modern life styles are completely different from the way
people lived in the past. Some people think the change have
been very positive, while others believe they have been
negative. Man’s attitude is the base for his behavioural
pattern.
The, modern world makes life faster and more
convenient. Information technologies have dramatically
altered the way manner in which people do their jobs and
the way by which companies are managed. The advent of
facsimile machines managed email, voicemail systems and
the growth and popularity of the internet have created a
global work environment. That has fast-paced life to make it
aggressive. “HURRY UP OR RUN OVER” seems to be present
life slogan. Though it makes us tired but it is positive for society
Today the role of teachers is only to supplement the
knowledge of students and not teaching them anything new.
Young generation is very fast and learns things faster than us
(teachers). With rapid growth of technology, students are
smarter and sharper. Knowledge is at their finger steps (With
the help of internet). New electronic devices make it easy for
the students to access in seconds what they want. So I was
thinking what will happen to teachers now?
Fortunately, I have the answer for the same question.
Nothing will happen to the role of teachers, only their role
gets changed.
I would say today’s teachers role is challenging than the
older generation teachers. Earlier, the first lesson was directly
taught by teachers in class. So, usually they never come up
with doubts. Today such teaching has no value, our role has
been widened to supplement or to add to the knowledge of
students which is really a challenging job. Students are
confused with great flow of information and exposure. Only
teachers can clear their confusion. I believe that time may
change but not student-teacher relation. Students will be
always a student and teachers will always be a teacher. The
depth in relationship may change with time.
As a teacher, I always believe, never hesitate to correct
the mistakes of children. Be close to their hearts, but not so
closer that we can’t correct them/scold them. Keep a safe
distance always!!.
Whatever today’s children have …they can never be
above a teacher. Smartness and sharpness, of course take
today’s children to great heights but teachers always have an
inevitable thing with them…… experience in life...
Use your experience to interact with all generation kids...

development. Thanks to competitions, human beings try their
best in order to survive.
Technology helps to improve student’s learning ability.
Computer simulation is used in flight used in schools to allow
students learning to fly without risks of accidents. Internet
helps us solve many problems which were extremely,
different in the past.
Beyond all the positives, there lie some negative also.
Cyber crime has become a very serious issue in our society
today, and it is committed through computer. These include
breaking into other computers, cyber Porn and various crimes
that have a drastic effect on the society and the institutions
that each of us hold to keep our global society running.
Therefore, technology is not the solution for all
organizational problems and technology will not provide
relief from poor management practice. The most benefit of
technology is the vast amount of information that can be more
easily processed and distributed. It is up to the people to use
it properly for the growth and development of the society
and the world.
Dear students, let not technology rule you, instead, you
rule it and revolutionise it. Make use of your technical skill to
develop a new technology which cans be beneficial to the
society. Prompt others to follow the right path and use the
innovative ideas in a positive way.

  • 1. “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us”. These famous words of Ralph W Emerson prompt me to evaluate ourselves on the basis of our motto “Think Good, Speak Good and Do Good”. We planted a series of hope, happiness, faith and enthusiasm in our minds, nurtured them with our sincere efforts and confidence and enjoyed the successful result- the fruits of exuberant achievements. When I turn the pages of the record of events of the last months I feel proud because, all my colleagues, supporting staff, Parents, students and well-wishers proved that the joint effort of each and everyone associated with the school can produce fabulous results. Our thoughts were positive, our words were weighed and our deeds were noble and appreciable. We are now in that happy mood. I take this opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the team work and the spirit of enthusiasm shown by the staff, students, parents and well wishers to make the crown of Viswajyothi colourful and precious than ever before. With grateful mind and fruitful vision I pray that everyone should open a merry heart in the coming academic year to have a continual feast in academics, co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Best Wishes, Fr. Varghese Kachappilly [Principal] is easy to say what to do or to promise something but when it comes to its execution it is completely different and difficult task. Dear friends, a long vacation ahead…plan your vacation and execute it meaningfully so that you enjoy each and every moment to its Vivekananda once said “Education is not the amount of information that is put into the brain, instead education is that process by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased and intellect is sharpened as the result of which one can stand on his own feet. It fullest. After all, we do things to satisfy ourselves. In this competitive world judge yourself and look for your place among the best. Roopa Ann Mathew [School Editor] policy. Our positive thoughts made things beautiful. Our aspiring, thoughtful and soothing words made us inhale the fragrance of togetherness, belongingness and contentment. I feel very happy to watch our institution taking greater strides to a bright future. This is possible because we always blend our positive thoughts and excellent performances to produce good results. Purity, patience, and perseverance are the three essential means to success. Keeping this saying as the guideline, I proudly say that we have achieved that precious gem of success. When I look back, I get a bright hindsight of the past academic year which emphasized academic excellence, service to the community, access to education and respect for the individual as its educational I gratefully acknowledge the incessant support extended by the teachers, other staff members, students, parents and well wishers who have always been liberal in their wishes, love and concern. Let us all move forward together to set a bright goal for the years to come. My prayerful wishes to everyone! Fr. Sebes Attokaran CMI [Vice Principal] From the Principal’s Desk A Word from the Vice Principal Editorial message
  • 2. 2 On 18th February the staff trip was conducted to Njarakkal. All of us enjoyed the cool breeze of the back waters, fishing, boating and sumptuous dining. It was also the celebration of the impending HOLI, the north Indian festival of colours, of love and harmony. The intoxicating scent and colours of “GULAL” brought us back to our childhood days of playfulness. No one was spared. But “puchkaris” (to spray colourful water) and tasty “gujiyas” (a snack made on Holi) were not there. Afternoon was spent on the beach. With only half mind, we returned in the evening. ChavaraFest We took part in the Chavara fest on 11th February 2012, conducted by Chavara Hills, Kakkanad. The fest was organized to pay reverence to our patron Blessed Fr. Kuriakose Elias Chavara. We presented a skit related to the life of the blessed father. Many schools coming under his patronage participated in the fest and presented programmes. St.Joseph’sDay The day was celebrated on 19th March 2012. Our manager Rev. Fr. Jose Padayatty CMI cut the cake in the name of all the Joseph’s. We all gathered in the A.V. Room where Rev. Fr. Varghese Kachappilly CMI spoke about the importance of the day. On Feb 15th , class I and II students and on February 16th 2012 Class III and IV students went for one day trips to the Dream World water theme park. As the academic year was about to end, the children had a lot of fun and frolic. Staff’s day outChildren’s day out The spiritual contentment On 3rd February 2012, the final spiritual gathering and prayer of this academic year was conducted. It created a graceful occasion of purification because everyone was moving forward to reach the next turning point of their lives. The final get together of Class XII On 14th February 2012 class XII students arranged a final get together ‘SANCHAL’. It was an emotional farewell. Some of them remembered their long 14 years’ experience in the school. Though a few are new to the school, they emphasized the point that a step in to Viswajyothi, means for them, a large volume of positive experiences. Teachers also shared their attachment with the students and blessed them for their future endeavours. Management hosted a sumptuous lunch for the class XII students and the staff members. EducationaltriptoHyderabad On 5th February,160 students of class IX were taken to Hyderabad for an educational trip. They visited historically important places like Charminar, Golkonda Fort, Birla Mandir etc. and culturally important places like Ramoji Film City, Lumbini Gardens etc. They enjoyed the wonderful Lazer Show and the chilling experience of snow world. A week’s life away from home, provided them a new experience of sharing and caring. StudentsandteachersfromItaly As a part of the student exchange programme, a group of 16 students and three teachers visited our school. They spent one week with our students in the school and attended classes. They also learned dance and Yoga. All these students were hosted by the families of those students who will be going to Italy on 15th April 2012. The students were given a grand welcome and also a touching farewell. The Italians and the Viswajyothians staged many programmes showing the cultural harmony of the two countries. Our team of 16 students will go for a tour to Italy from April 16 to April 23rd 2012.
  • 3. 3 All Kerala Br. Leo Paul Prathibhadarshan Award Speech competition was conducted for two days, 19th and 20th February 2012 in our school. Among 150 students from various schools, 50 got selected to the final round. These 50 students were given free food and accommodation in Assisi Shanti Kendra, Karukutty. The best 3 were selected through various rounds like debate, discussion, speech, drawing etc. Kum. Mariya Ann Toms was the Second Runner Up in the competition. She received certificate, Medal Trophy and 3,000 Rs. Cash prize. On 23rd February the art and craft exhibition was conducted. The creativity of the students proved to be exemplary. There were glass paintings and other drawings made by the students. First Aid Class A report On 22nd Feb, a class on first aid was conducted by Dr. Justin. He explained in detail, on what occasion, a person will need a first aid. Every day we hear about accidents and some other casualties and therefore we should be essentially aware of some first aids. We have to look for our safety also, when we are trying to give first aid. For e.g., a person gets an electric shock and we try to save him. We must not touch the person, but try to move him away with a piece of dry wood or some other object which does not allow electricity to pass. We should switch off power and move the person with the help of a wooden stick. Wash the burnt area with the help of cold water and inform the elders to help us. When a road accident or some other accidents occur, we should see whether the person is conscious and can talk. If it is so ask him what happened, where is the pain etc. only in brief because we should convey it to the doctor. If the victim is unconscious, get the help of elders to see whether he /she is breathing and if so immediately the victim should be taken to the nearest hospital. The doctor also gave us some tips about what to be done when there is bleeding, cut, wound, snake bite, dog bite, and bee/wasp sting and also if there is a case of poison consuming. The class was very effective and informative. The Interschool Quiz competition ‘Viswapratibha’ was conducted on 21st February 2012, 14 schools participated. After the preliminary, 6 teams qualified for the finals. Chavara Public School, Pala, Chinmaya Vidyala Vaduthala and Bhavans darash, Kakkanadu bagged the first, second and third position respectively. DelhiTrip Class XI students were taken to the capital city for a week’s tour on 24th February 2012.They visited Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Parliament House, Rashtrapathi Bhavan, Red Fort, Raj Ghat, Indira Smrithi, Akshar Dham, and Lotus Temple. They enjoyed a journey by the Metro train. Graduation27th March 2012 was a day where little graduates were standing ready in their blue attire for receiving the Graduation certificates. • 6. 6 Modern life styles are completely different from the way people lived in the past. Some people think the change have been very positive, while others believe they have been negative. Man’s attitude is the base for his behavioural pattern. The, modern world makes life faster and more convenient. Information technologies have dramatically altered the way manner in which people do their jobs and the way by which companies are managed. The advent of facsimile machines managed email, voicemail systems and the growth and popularity of the internet have created a global work environment. That has fast-paced life to make it aggressive. “HURRY UP OR RUN OVER” seems to be present life slogan. Though it makes us tired but it is positive for society Today the role of teachers is only to supplement the knowledge of students and not teaching them anything new. Young generation is very fast and learns things faster than us (teachers). With rapid growth of technology, students are smarter and sharper. Knowledge is at their finger steps (With the help of internet). New electronic devices make it easy for the students to access in seconds what they want. So I was thinking what will happen to teachers now? Fortunately, I have the answer for the same question. Nothing will happen to the role of teachers, only their role gets changed. I would say today’s teachers role is challenging than the older generation teachers. Earlier, the first lesson was directly taught by teachers in class. So, usually they never come up with doubts. Today such teaching has no value, our role has been widened to supplement or to add to the knowledge of students which is really a challenging job. Students are confused with great flow of information and exposure. Only teachers can clear their confusion. I believe that time may change but not student-teacher relation. Students will be always a student and teachers will always be a teacher. The depth in relationship may change with time. As a teacher, I always believe, never hesitate to correct the mistakes of children. Be close to their hearts, but not so closer that we can’t correct them/scold them. Keep a safe distance always!!. Whatever today’s children have …they can never be above a teacher. Smartness and sharpness, of course take today’s children to great heights but teachers always have an inevitable thing with them…… experience in life... Use your experience to interact with all generation kids... Ms. Sreeja S. [Dept of commerce] The management arranged a Staff Family Get together on March 24th Saturday 2012 to express their concern towards each family. It was an evening full of fun and laughter with various games and variety entertainment programmes. The lip- ticking dinner added the flavour of togetherness

Computer simulation is used in flight used in schools to allow students learning to fly without risks of accidents. Internet helps us solve many problems which were extremely, different in the past. Beyond all the positives, there lie some negative also. Cyber crime has become a very serious issue in our society today, and it is committed through computer. These include breaking into other computers, cyber Porn and various crimes that have a drastic effect on the society and the institutions that each of us hold to keep our global society running. Therefore, technology is not the solution for all organizational problems and technology will not provide relief from poor management practice. The most benefit of technology is the vast amount of information that can be more easily processed and distributed. It is up to the people to use it properly for the growth and development of the society and the world. Dear students, let not technology rule you, instead, you rule it and revolutionise it. Make use of your technical skill to develop a new technology which cans be beneficial to the society. Prompt others to follow the right path and use the innovative ideas in a positive way.
