An Izod impact test was performed on 20 samples of PVC pipe to test their impact strength. The average strength was 1.113 ft-lb/in with a standard deviation of 0.325 ft-lb/in. This was compared to the industry standard of greater than 1.0 ft-lb/in using a hypothesis test with alpha of 0.01, which found that the impact strength was not statistically greater than the standard.
