3. Objective of the Project To enhance food security of small & marginal farmers & families through awareness, demonstrations, technical and material support for promotion of SRI, organic farming and Sustainable Agricultural Practices. To form local groups and associations to promote these activities following SRI methods, natural resource management, water management, value addition and collective marketing to achieve sustainable development & livelihood security
4. Experience of Two Kharip Seasons2009 & 2010 Kharip 2009 2146 Farmers & 436 Acre land covered with Nine NGO partners in 11 districts of Maharashtra under SRI. Basic support to Farmers like Training, Weeders (Local & Traditional too) , Markers, Exposures etc State level Symposium & block level workshops for Agriculture Departments & PRI (Impact on Implementation)
5. Experience of Kharip 2010 Seasons 3121 Farmers & 628 Acre land covered with 12 NGO partners in 6 Districts of Maharashtra under SRI. 132 SRI Village level Resource Persons has trained & for field monitoring trained Unit In charges. Support to Farmers for the Up scaling of SRI like; Training, Exposure, Marker, Weeder, Organic fertilizers (Vermin Compost), Quality seeds, etc Traditional Variety of Paddy has encourage with SRI method. 70 – 80 % small & marginal Farmers covered. With this landless farmers also included in program.

Case study from the Sindhudurg District SHG from Kudal Block has taken land on lease 13 members collectively work on farm & followed SRI method Total Yield were sold by group They earned total 15000/- from total yield 2000/- Rupees they deposited in group where as 13000/- Rs. They equally distributed among them 1000/- Rupees utilized by them to get water pipeline to their house & maintenance of the water pipeline has given to these women by the Grampanchayat.
14. Current Activities Around 600 farmers are cultivating Paddy with SRI method in Rabbi 2010. Weeders fabrication at local level SWI promotion Preparation has initiated for the State level Symposium At various level SRI promotion is going on through Agriculture related Exhibitions. Media Consultation (News related SRI, success stories of the SRI has shown on Marathi News channel) Treadle Pumps use for lift irrigation (in Rabbi)
16. Major Findings Due to heavy rainfall during harvesting period there was the flood situation but SRI field has resist that situation. Traditional varieties & scented varieties increased the income though they have more market value Repeated farmers has found the SRI transplantation easy & time saving Compare to last year this year no. of tillers were less due to heavy rainfall (Fields were submerged)
27. Future Plans State level Symposium with Agriculture University & Agriculture department. District & Block level interface with Various govt. sectors & PRI Intensification method in Minor Millets, Vegetable & Inter cropping on Experimental level.
