MAKE AIT THEIR NEW HOME
“
You may come from overseas, but at the Asian
Institute of Technology (AIT), no student
is treated as a foreigner. Here, everyone is
treated equally, with Thailand serving as a host to
AIT.” These were the welcome remarks of Prof.
Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, AIT President, while
greeting students hailing from 20 countries spread
across Asia, Europe and South America at the AIT
Orientation organized on 5 January 2018.
The largest cohort of students enrolled at AIT for the
January 2018 semester came from India, followed by
Nepal, Vietnam, Pakistan, and France. A lone student
from Ecuador represents South America; Europe is
represented by students from France, Germany, Fin-
land, and Hungary; while the remaining students are

Explore the AIT campus in a 3D model
You have explored the green and beautiful
campus of AIT many times. You have
navigated the lanes and bylanes of the
campus, and admired the flora and fauna.
You have seen many maps and tagged your
locations in Google Maps, Google Earth,
SwarmApp and others. This time, come
and explore the AIT in three dimensions,
courtesy of a 3D rendering produced by
AIT’s Geoinformatics Center.
The 3D rendition is created after obtaining
1500 images of the AIT campus obtained
in October 2017. “October is one of the
best months since it is one of the greenest
AIT is a perfect institute to serve as a training hub
for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS),
according to the lead organizers of the four-
day training workshop on GNSS. The workshop
was organized from 23-26 January 2018 by the
GeoInformatics Center (GIC), with 67 participants
from 15 countries attending the event.
Ms. Sharafat Gadimova of UN Office for Outer Space
delivered the opening remarks on “International
Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems,”
while Dr. Dinesh Manadhar conducted the working
sessions. Both are AIT graduates (Environmental
Remote Sensing & Geoinfo for Development, 1998).

green campus,” says Dr. Manzul Kumar Hazarika, Director, GIC. The
drone flew at a height of 100 metres, and the images obtained had a
resolution of 5 centimeter pixels traversing over the length and breadth
of the campus seven times, following which they were stitched together
to create a 3D model (http://www.geoinfo.ait.asia/3d_models/AIT/

Industrial Works
agreement was signed by Mr. Mongkol Pruekwatana,
Director General, DIW, and Prof. Worsak Kanok-
Nukulchai, President, AIT, on 26 January 2018.
The agreement envisages cooperation in technical
activities between AIT and DIW for assessing the
current situation of dioxin emission and management
in Thailand. Included in the agreement are joint
research activities, joint seminar and training activities,
exchangeandparticipationofstaffforresearch,lectures
and discussions, exchange of information including
research data, publications and academic materials,
and exploring other possible field collaborations in

You have navigated the lanes and bylanes of the campus, and admired the flora and fauna. You have seen many maps and tagged your locations in Google Maps, Google Earth, SwarmApp and others. This time, come and explore the AIT in three dimensions, courtesy of a 3D rendering produced by AIT’s Geoinformatics Center. The 3D rendition is created after obtaining 1500 images of the AIT campus obtained in October 2017. “October is one of the best months since it is one of the greenest AIT is a perfect institute to serve as a training hub for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), according to the lead organizers of the four- day training workshop on GNSS. The workshop was organized from 23-26 January 2018 by the GeoInformatics Center (GIC), with 67 participants from 15 countries attending the event. Ms. Sharafat Gadimova of UN Office for Outer Space delivered the opening remarks on “International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems,” while Dr. Dinesh Manadhar conducted the working sessions.
