1. Contents Page Analysis
The articles themselves are all
education related despite one about
turtles which isn’t what a lot of
teenagers want to read about and so
despite the layout, the magazine
have not taken into consideration any
research into what their readers
might want to read by the looks of the
content within their magazine.
There is no bleed on the contents
page which makes the look of the
magazine formal and simple;
appealing to the more mature
audience.
There is a colourful colour scheme
going on in this contents page which
makes it feel a bit too childish,
especially with the turtles. What is
odd is the advertising of recycling,
however this does show the interests
of the magazine and is also subtle
advertising. Although the colour
scheme is childish it does have a
positive feeling to it but still misses its
target audience of teenagers.
There is no central image on the
contents page and is instead
replaced by graphic features which
are spread out to anchor the articles
that they are supporting.
There is an interesting way of linking
the page numbers to the article
names and it does engage the reader
that little bit which makes it effective
at making the magazine an
interesting and engaging read. There is a bright yellow pug which
has been placed in the gutter of the
contents page in order to catch the
eye of the reader and draw their
attention to what the magazine is
promoting.
