Identified
problem
Some
of
the
greatest
challenges
in
the
Romanian
health
care
system
are
drug
shortages
and
stock-­‐outs.
From
ordinary
painkillers
to
lifesaving
drugs
for
HIV/AIDS,
cancer,
hepatitis,
and
tuberculosis,
and
even
morphine
to
ease
the
pain
of
the
dying,
drug
stock-­‐outs
are
occurring
across
Romania
Solution
This
project
will
create
an
electronic
system
to
monitor
stock-­‐outs
of
drugs
across
the
country.
A
website
in
Romanian
and
English
will
be
created
which
will
allow
users
to
report
shortages
of
drugs
in
their
hospitals,
communities
and
judets.
The
system
will
also
include
a
mobile
phone
web
application
that
will
utilize
GPS
data.
A
blog
and
interactive
maps
will
display
the
data
to
the
public
which
will
then
be
reported
to
the
Romanian
Ministry
of
Health,
national
and
international
organizations,
thus
ensuring
transparency
and
accountability.
This
system
will
be
used
by
doctors,
nurses,
patients
and
their
families
and
NGOs
from
all
over
the
country.

the
team
This
project
is
a
collaboration
between
Romanian
Angel
Appeal,
The
Union
of
Organizations
for
People
Affected
by
HIV/AIDS
(UNOPA),
and
The
Coalition
of
Patients'
Organizations
with
Chronic
Diseases
from
Romania
(COPAC).
