2. Dr Who 50th Anniversary
The main image is of the
three doctors in the film. The
positioning of the 10th and
11th Doctors facing away from
each other connotes that
they have disagreements in
the narrative, and the central
position of the War Doctor is
key in telling the audience
that he is the central issue in
the film and that they will all
have to join together to figure
out a problem. The exploding
Dalek is a hint to the glimpse
of the Time War that has
always been a constant
theme in the TV series but
was never shown.
The title is made up of the
Dr Who logo and so adds to
the brand identity that the
poster utilises to attract
audiences. The logo also has
the BBC logo in to add to the
ownership of the product -
however, this is small and so
does not interfere with the
overall adventure that the
poster creates.
The actors are listed in small
print at the top of the poster in
the right hand corner. This
connotes an element of
modesty that they are not
brandishing the poster with
celebrity endorsement, which
makes it more subtle and
effective.
The background is made up of a smoke effect and a
black backdrop. This connotes the dark nature of the
narrative and tells the audience that the film will be
more serious than average episodes.

3. What I will repeat
• I could use the stance of the characters in the main image to show James
and Mitchel on opposing sides, and in the middle of the image, the final
fight scene from the book will signify the divide between the characters.
• I will have the credits in small writing and out of the way so that the
audience do not get distracted from the main issues of the story. This will
also make my poster more professional.
• I will create a unique logo to use in the poster as this will create brand
identity that will enhance the quality of the poster.

4. Dark Knight
The main images of the Joker
and Batman are long shots,
which connotes the distance
that the characters have
towards each other - however,
they are close together, and this
connotes the conflict that they
will have. This could be
implemented in my poster as
Mitchel and James are distant
towards each other and yet in
close conflict. The shot type is
also a low angle, which
connotes the respective power
that these characters have.
The Batman logo is a part of the background, seen in the fire. This is
subtle and artistically creative, which attracts the target market of
the teenage and adult audiences who would want to see the darker
portrayal of Batman. The dark blue colouring in the background
connotes that the narrative will be sadder than other films, and also
makes the poster more dramatic as it highlights the characters and
the bat symbol burnt into the building a lot more effectively.One element that the
poster does not have is
synergy with social
media. This would
create a personal
relationship between
the audience and the
production studio. I will
have small ‘Facebook’
and ‘twitter’ logos to
give my poster this
relationship.

5. What I will repeat
• I will repeat the use of the city as the background. In my project I will
use the iconic building, ‘The Shard’, and add fire effects to it to
symbolise the battle over London that is in the narrative of the book.
• I will try and blend the logo into the background to make my work
more professional.
