Proper nouns name specific people, places, or things like Mirza Ghalib or Karachi. Abstract nouns refer to ideas or concepts that have no physical form, such as freedom or happiness. Material nouns name materials or substances like cotton or gold. Collective nouns refer to groups of people or things like family or cricket team.

1) Common noun: Names of general items are called common noun.
Examples:
Window, coffee, cup, sink, magnet, plates, basketball, video etc
2) Proper noun: Name of a particular place, person or thing.
Examples:
Mirza Ghalib, Qaid-e-Azam, Winston Churchill, Babe Ruth, Ali, Murree, Karachi etc.
3) Abstract noun: An abstract noun refers to states, events, concepts, feelings, qualities etc.
Examples:
Freedom, happiness, ideas and music are all the abstract noun that have no physical
state.
4) Material noun: Material noun is the name of a material or a substance or an ingredient of an
alloy.
Examples:
Cotton, gold, diamond, bricks, calcium, wood or plastic etc.

Examples: family, fleet, club, class, pak army, college staff, cricket team etc.
