Connecting Youth With A Cause

FALL 2013
August 23 to October 20
Philosophy of Change
As the 21st century India continues to grapple with myriad issues, we believe that a
generation of young leaders is required to tackle these problems .We also believe if we can
create young role models across the country who will lead by example and act as multipliers,
this movement shall sustain itself. We work as a catalyst and facilitate passionate young
individuals nurture the leader within them while providing them exposure, a closely
connected network and mentoring.

The Indian Youth
Youth
The Opportunity The Challenge
Youth
Lead The Change Model
We aim to build a movement of young
leaders equipped to meet India’s problems
by designing processes to identify young
individuals with a spark to think
innovatively for the larger social good. We
do this by conducting programs where
they get experiential exposure in both
urban and rural space to identify their
passion.
Mission Statement
http://youthallianceofindia.org/lead-the-change/
The Project
Lead the Change is a 8 week program which takes 40 passionate
individuals on a rigorous journey to explore themselves inside-out, to
internalise the challenges (under issues like women empowerment &
human trafficking, education, policy etc.) of the country through
hands-on exposure. They hone their leadership skills by learning from role
models and experts in the social development domain and employ
design thinking to undertake a time bound social action. There is a
strong focus on deep self-awareness and starting the process from within.
Beyond the program, we help participants build their social enterprise by
connecting them with mentors and helping them build a team.
• Passionate and persevering individuals disturbed by status quo
• Innovative thinkers
• Quick learners open to new ideas
• Youngsters with a commitment to act
• Willing to be a part of a constructive rather than disruptive force

Journey of Lead The Change
http://youthallianceofindia.org/lead-the-change/
The journey of Lead The Change of the last one-and-a-half year has been one interesting tale to tell.
We are surrounded with stories from participants being able to communicate better with their families
to some of them negotiating to establish a student society in their colleges to them doing whatever it
takes to start an initiative. Witnessing youngsters taking adventurous expedition of self-transformation,
has only strengthened our belief in the potential of the young.
With every version the program has become more engaging and more focused on action. Our network
and understanding of the ecosystem is only growing with constant feedbacks from mentors,
participants and introspection. In short, this autumn LTC is going bigger, better and deeper.
100 70 100
% our participants
believe the program
deepened their self-awareness and their
understanding of the complex issues.
% believe that
the program
affected the decision about
their career choices in long-run.

they got a gen-
uine space to share themselves
due to the program.

‘
Prahlad went on to join Goonj full-time and as also initiated a learning center in
his native village of Gobarsingha in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh.
‘LTC opened a host of opportunities in social space which included various
fellowships. I wasn't restricted to a particular stream and it's expertise but was
exposed to the realities of education, women empowerment, skill development, etc. &
got to witness some of the brilliant organizations, met people who created them and
developed a bond with such monumental people in the social space. Youth Alliance in
many ways have contributed in developing a vision to understand and thereafter
acknowledge the realm of social space, exploring the space and in turn, myself.’
Divas joined Youth Alliance core team later and is now a Gandhi fellow.

Testimonials
Hardeep Singh, LTC-Spring 2013
Subhash Pachar, LTC-Spring 2012
‘Youth Alliance is not just a platform, its the ground which nourishes the seeds of self
transformation, helping one to grow. One of the best programs I have come across
where the youth gets involved and takes a closer, hands-on experience of working
closer to social issues and at grass root level, starting from self.’
Hardeep has been working with Ericson. Post Lead the Change, he is highly
involved in the Awakin community in Delhi.
‘मैं खुद एक गााँव से हूाँ पर Lead the Change ने मुझे एक नया नजररया

I wasn't restricted to a particular stream and it's expertise but was exposed to the realities of education, women empowerment, skill development, etc. & got to witness some of the brilliant organizations, met people who created them and developed a bond with such monumental people in the social space. Youth Alliance in many ways have contributed in developing a vision to understand and thereafter acknowledge the realm of social space, exploring the space and in turn, myself.’ Divas joined Youth Alliance core team later and is now a Gandhi fellow.

One of the best programs I have come across where the youth gets involved and takes a closer, hands-on experience of working closer to social issues and at grass root level, starting from self.’ Hardeep has been working with Ericson. Post Lead the Change, he is highly involved in the Awakin community in Delhi. Subhash has now become the President, NSS Hindu College.
