Frequently Asked Questions
How do I nominate a student for Student of the Week?
You can go to http://tinyurl.com/WJWeeklyForm. You should be prepared to provide
the first and last names of two students and their individual grade levels. You do not
have to teach a student to nominate him or her.
What are the criteria for nominating a student?
You should use the BUCS expectations as a guide for how to nominate students. Your
students should be there, understand their purpose, choose the right attitude, and
ultimately succeed. We don’t expect your student to be a stellar student, as you may
have a student who is coming late frequently but makes a change towards positive
attendance behavior. This could be a student who emulates the BE THERE expectation.
What happens when I nominate a student?
The names and grades are submitted to the SWPBIS team. The team uses the collection
of names to pick 2 students from every grade level to be displayed on the board.
Typically these are students who have been nominated more than once or are chosen
randomly. You then get two certificates for you to write out, sign and distribute to the
students.
What is the timeline for Student of the Week?
Your nominations are due by Friday, and on the following Tuesday you can pick up your
certificates (and Buccaneer Bucks!) from the crate in the teacher’s lounge. You simply
take your certificates, Buccaneer Bucs and any other goodies from your ziplock folder in
the crate and leave the ziplock folder there. Then on Friday, you’ll submit a new survey
and the following Tuesday you will check your ziplock folder again! Your key dates are
Friday and Tuesday!
