What is it?
Spotify is a streaming service
that gives subscribers instant
access to millions of songs for
the cost of R$16,90 per month.
When did it emerge?
Spotify was lauched in 2008 by
Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon. It
became wildly popular for being
cheaper than buying CDs or using
iTunes.
Why “Spotify”?
Daniel and Martin were brainstorming ideas for a name. Martin said
something and then Daniel misheard it as "Spotify". They decided they
liked that name.

How does it work?
The Spotify music streaming
service uses a "freemium"
model for its operations,
allowing any signed up users to
stream music from their library
for free, though with ads.
Users can also pay Spotify a
small premium subscription to
remove advertisements, get
better quality tracks, and
download tunes to your phone
for offline listening.
