To Whom it May Concern:
This letter is written in support of Tremaine P. Dalton, a young man of great
intelligence, zeal, integrity and with a lot to offer society. I have known Tremaine for a
few years and most recently we have been working together on the skeleton of a plan to
increase the involvement of young people in emergency preparedness..
Tremaine is the education enrichment specialist for the Evening Reporting Center
(ERC) program at the Valley of the Sun YMCA. ERC offers cognitive skills building,
community service projects, recreational activities and creative arts, where young men
who may be considered at risk of delinquent behavior learn positive discipline and social
skills. ERC is designed to decrease the recidivism rate of youth in juvenile detention
centers and probation violations resulting in detainment.
The young men that Tremaine works with in the ERC are between the ages of 14-
17—the most vulnerable, yet potentially most promising time of a young man’s life.
Tremaine’s enthusiasm and creativity for the youth that he serves provides a role model
for these young men at a critical developmental stage of their lives.
In addition to working with young men at risk, Tremaine leads young men at the
other end of the societal spectrum as well. Each week, Tremaine conducts a college
access program in which he hosts discussions with college bound high school students.
The teens that attend gain valuable information regarding the college application process
as well as personal antidotes from Tremaine.
I share these two aspects of Tremaine’s life to express his ability to be a role
model and guide to people in the younger generation—no matter their station in life. This
ability—to motivate what society might consider both “the best and the worst”—is to be
applauded. It is evidence of a deeper ability Tremaine possesses—the ability to succeed
no matter the situation.
I believe Tremaine will be successful in his future endeavors. I hope you will see
the great future leader in him that I see. Please call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jannah Scott, Th.D., Deputy Director
