Commercialization plan in a classical approach
Commercialization is the last stage in the development of product innovation, which focuses
on marketing activities (C.M.Crawford).
The key tasks of the commercialization stage include:
• Defining the target market
• Specifying the final version of the product
• Identification of the value for the client including the main benefits related to
functions,
• Quality, cost reduction, time savings, security and prestige
• Choice of pricing strategy and distribution strategy
• Identification of promotional activities
•
LIST OF PRODUCTS DEVELOPED DURING THE BOOTCAMP WORKSHOP in POLAND
1. Formation of a database of forms of spending free time (by seniors):
a) Assessment of the feasibility of the project – this project is feasible. It does not
require special expenditure or specialist knowledge.
b) Elaboration / business justiffication - the assumption is that the database is for
free. Profits will be available from the advertised ads. After some time, e.g. a
year, if the platform had many impressions, you can expand it by creating
accounts for regular users who will be able to win a free ticket for an event.
c) Product development - placing advertisements on the database page. Dividing
events into groups, i.e. concerts, theater, exhibitions, sports, training, etc.
Creating an association promoting the site with a database, promoting the base
in Szczecin and its surroundings. Maintaining contact with existing seniors
clubs.
d) Testing and validation - creating a website with a database of all events for
seniors. Then 3 months of testing the site. After leaving the site, each person
will be asked to comment / opinion about the base. In the next stage of
development, a forum would be created.
e) Implementation – promotion at the universities od the 3rd century, senior
homes, senior clubs, organization of seminars, cooperation with a professional
IT specjalist who would create a website with a database.
2. Establishing an association od seniors:
a) This project is feasible.
b) Establishing an association does not require higher costs. The membership
would be covered by a monthly contribution, e.g. in the amount od 30 PLN. It
would be an amount allocated for running an office, renting premies, water,
coffee, tea. Various meeting and workshops for seniors would be organized at
the headquarters of the association.
c) After some time, the association could also organize short trips/trips for
seniors. These trips would be additionally payable – in the case of one – day
trips, the fee would cover transport costs, lunch, entry tickets to museums,
parks, concerts, etc.
d) Establishing the association and inviting to join. The first two months would be
free. Only from the third month would membership fee be required. Members
would be able to suggest topics for meetings, workshops, etc. Any senior who
would bring his friend to the association would receive a discount on the
membership fee and would only pay PLN 25.
e) Promotion of the new association at the universities of the 3rd century and at
all kinds of workshops for seniors.
3. Shopping trolley for the senior
a) This project is workable.
b) Designing and then production of trucks controlled by a remote control will
require large financial outlays. The trolley has built-in gps and is controlled by
the remote control – it „drives” behind the customer. Financing would include
a pram design and production
c) At first the product would be available in several stores. After passing the tests,
you can enter it into more stores.
d) 1-month testing of trolleys in several selected stores in different cities.
e) Encouraging stores to use electric remote controlled trucks;
promotion videos on Fb, Instagram, YT.
4. Platforms for boarding / disembarking on trains
a) This project is workable but it requires large financial outlays and involvement
of entrepreneurs.
b) Design and production of platforms. Similar platforms are already on buses so
you can get inspired by such a project. You have to get a railway carrier to want
to implement this project.
c) Introduction of an entry /exit platform on all trains.
d) 3-month platform tests on selected trains. Collecting opinions from seniors
using the platform.
e) Information at railway stations and on trains about the possibility of using the
platform for boarding/disembarking. Movies that advertise on screens on
trains.
5. The application „grandma/grandfather on the phone”
a) This project is feasible. It requires the creation of an application by the IT
specialist.
b) The assumption is that an application containing ads/profiles of older people
who want to provide childcare services should be created. Placing a guardian
profile on the application portal would cost eg 10 PLN. Each upadte of the user’s
advertisement would cost 3 PLN. Persons wishing to use the services of a given
guardian woud have to register. The fees would not be supported from them.
The portal would profit primarily from the ads placed on it.
c) Extending childcare services to, for example, educational services, i.e. playing
the piano, help with homework etc.
d) 3-month testing of the application. Invite people using the app to evaluate it.
e) Promoting the application on Facebook. Posting advertisin spots on websites.
Promotion of applications in the homes of seniors, senior clubs, universities of
the 3rd century.
6. Concierge:
a) This project is fasibile It requires the establishment of a company that deals
with events, seminars, workshops and VIP events. The company would employ
a concierge, in other words people responsible for professional and discreet
service of persons during the above-mentioned events.
b) The assumption is to emploi senior citizens with high personal culture who
could work as a concierge. The employing company would chargé for the work
of seniors – a concierge during events and then pay the seniors a salary. Such a
company could be set up by a senior or a group of seniors. At first, 1-2 seniors
would work as a concierge.
c) If there was a demand for concierge services, the company would emploi more
people. There would also be organized trainings on how to be a good concierge,
etc.
d) Employment at the beginning of 1-2 seniors as a concierge. If there is a demand,
then employ more seniors. Organization of training how to become cnocierge
etc.
e) Promotion on Facebook, Instagram promotional videos on YT.
Leaflets at wedding houses, hotels.
7. Handyman:
a) This project is pre-feasible. It requires creating a portal / application.
b) The assumption is that could be created an application containing advertisements /
profiles of older people who want to provide small repairs at home etc. Placing a profile
by a senior on the application portal would cost eg 10 PLN. Each update of the user's
advertisement would cost PLN 5. People who want to use the service of a specialist -
handyman would have to register. The fees would not be supported from them. The
portal would profit primarily from the ads placed on it.
c) Placing advertisements on the application page that would bring profits. Over time,
creating 5-10 % discounts for users who would often use the services of seniors –
handyman.
d) Creating a website with a database of seniors – handyman. Then three-monthly testing
of the site. After leaving the site, each person will be asked to comment / opinion aobut
the website / application and services of seniors. In the next stage of development, a
forum would be created.
e) Promoting the application on Facebook. Posting advertising spots on websites.
Promotion of applications in the homes of seniors, senior clubs, universities of the 3rd
century.
f)
8. An application that reads text messages from the mobile phone "out loud":
a) The project is workable, but requires financial investment to create an application. A
company would have to invest some money and, above all, start cooperation with an IT
specialist.
b) The assumption is to create an application that reads „messages” / texts from a mobile
phone „out loud”/ It will be a special application to download on your smartphone. This
application will be payable once for 5 PLN per download, but then it will be free of charge.
Profits will be derived mainly from advertising.
c) After 4 months of positive tests, the service could be expanded to include an application
that converts a voice message into a text message.
d) Creating an application. Then 4-month testing. After leaving the application , each person
will be asked to comment / express an opinion about it, what is good and what can be
improved.
e) Promotion at the universities of the 3rd century, senior home, senior clubs, organization of
seminars, cooperation with a professional IT specialist who would create the application.
