The aesthetics in fashion reflected somewhat the
hard-edged elements of art movements,
with abstract and geometric designs lending
shape and sexuality to body forms that would
otherwise appear unfeminine and sterile.
The gowns of the twenties – basically unshaped
rectangles – were embellished with beading,
fringes, ruffles and all manner of embroidery
design to accent each motion of the androgynous
body.
