Fiona: Now that you have completed the Network Transition Checklist and the transition worksheet ….. Ask the question to the President’s and any of the team members: if I knew what I now know how would I do something differently. Feel free to share with your groups.
These guidelines are meant to be for you only and perhaps to share with your team so you can work together to get to where you want to go! By the way, it’s OK to not know everything because if you did then no potential for growth.

1 Minute Theresa: Note that we have included all of the Line Officer team in this presentation, playing to each other’s strengths….as a model. Cheryl is now going to work with you on the transitioning of your leadership teams and go over what the President elects have learned at Leadership Academy
Handout: Network leadershipTeam commitment letter
Cheryl: 35 minutes total
Slides 27-31 minutes Cheryl: You are Contagious. Slow down, be fully present, don’t participate in busy and chaos.
Slides 27-31 minutes Cheryl: You! Creating a positive ripple
Cheryl lets bring this all together. At your tables-Group Discussion of Leadership Academy Insights and Network Successes
Take one or more of the ideas that you have come up with, these can be different based on Network needs. Use the insights and methods from the Team Leader worksheet. The one criteria is that you all agree needs to be different or will help your network and members grow. Use the Transition Worksheet or the Leadership Academy experience from the Team Exercise/Challenge Set up a plan how to implement, who is responsible for what, agreements needed, time frames etc. We have created a form, becoming a change agent, maybe should read member? But ideas to get you started…are on the easels…..
Cheryl min What ideas did you come up with that you can incorporate into your Network business plan? Each President-elect shares ideas they had at Leadership Academy, Fiona write these down on an easel
Cheryl Invite outgoing DVP/GOV and incoming DVP/GOV
Slides 32-38 Eileen 20 minutes The past several years, Jim Delizia has shared and used this form/concept at Leadership Academy. Although at Leadership Academy, each person complete one on one… we thought this concept would be useful to the whole team… so take about 5-10 minutes to answer each question and then share with the teams at at the table. Look for commonalities and differences that you have and come to an agreement that if there is a disagreement about something how are the parties or the group going to work through it.
Eileen: You Got this! The beauty of Women’s Council is that each year we all step into new positions. So Learn It, Love it and Please pass it on.
Honor your past leadership, thank your past leadership, Plan to invovle your past leadership and above all Respect your team and make them all shine!
Eileen
Eileen: Building Trust, especially with new people coming into the team:
Communication: personality profiles
Demonstrating a transparent and smooth transition from year to year will help you to build that trust with your entire team.
The Language of Leadership 8 phrases every leader should use: Trust: 1. What are your thoughts? 2. I trust your judgment: this is your decision to make. 3. This is what I can share with you. 4. You are Awesome! I am so glad you are on my team! 5. I am vested in your success! 6. I expect you to give me feedback. 7. I always have time for you. How can I help? 8. We are a team!
Eileen Communication based on Personality Profiles, DISC, Behavioral Patterns, Root Causes; always two or more ways to look at things. One of the things we all have in common is our structure and our understanding that we are looking for the best in each other and for our members.
The President is the leader of the Network and the team and acts as a represented of Women’s Council, Cheryl……
Eileen: The past several years, Jim Delizia has shared and used this form/concept at Leadership Academy.
Fiona so we are demonstrating some of the skills required to create a great team… Explain the slide tying in some of the things that were noted in the previous discussion. We are here to create a great team, TRANSITION To Eileen-----so now that we have some experience with this, let’s dig a little deeper Eileen
10 min Theresa Honor your outgoing Presidents: meet in teams and direct each team to compliment or recognize President’s accomplishments and what they do well; note that we can learn and grow even when we have conflict or dis-agreement. If the President is not present. Have someone write down the compliments to give to the President. It is important to acknowledge what has been done and not what has not been done.
Then Ask each President to share at least one accomplishment and something they felt good about… Thank you! Applaud and thank each one
(Cheryl to set up in advance with least two networks to get started)
Easel-someone take notes
Slides 40-42 Theresa: 3 Min
Finish Transition Plan does not mean pass the gavel; it means the President is still the President so work together to transition, communicate often and openly remember we are all in this together, if you succeed then we all succeed….
Theresa: Note that we have included all of the Line Officer team in this presentation, playing to each other’s strengths….as role models for you
Theresa: Remind them of officer invitation protocol to installations/ business resource meetings Have form as a handout
Cheryl-All of us go thru lots of transitions over time. Today we evaluated where we are and now you have an idea of where you want to be. YOU GOT THIS!! We want to start strong and finish strong!!! Plan, Plan Plan and just breathe! Our State team of the line officers, Governors and District Vice Presidents are always here if you have questions or need assistance with anything at all! We thank you for being here today and would appreciate it if you would evaluate our presentation.-Evaluation
Slide 43 3 minutes Fiona: as President Elect next year, I hope? Please complete the Evaluations so that we can improve as to what is needed for subsequent Boot Camps both this year and next.
All line officers say thank you and looking forward to working with you now and in the future!
