3. Sumer civilization
Sumer
Ziggurats
A temple or a complex of temples is called a ziggurat. The ziggurats are built entirely with large clumps of clay mixed entirely with hand.
4. Crops
The main crops of Sumer were barley, wheat, pulses, dates, grapes etc.
Agriculture
The use of new and effective foots for agriculture became widespread.
Cuneiform Writing
The script developed in Sumer is called the ‘cuneiform script’. The script had symbols in the shape of wooden wedges imprinted on day vertically and horizontally.
5. Cuneiform writings are to be read from right to left.
Handicrafts
The archaeological remains excavated from temples and palace compounds reveal that different types of handicrafts which required expert training existed in Sumer.
6. Babylon civilization
Babylonian civilization is developed in the Tigris river valley.
The political climate in Babylon changed by 1800 BC. South Babylon came under the control of Rim-sin and North Babylon came under Hammurabi.

7. The comprehensive legal code introduced by Hammurabi in Babylon is well known.
The basis of the legal code implemented by Hammurabi is the policy of punishment based on the principle of “an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth,” Hammurabi stood for ideas like justice, equality, protection of widows, protection of farmers and traders.
