6. OVERVIEW INTERNSHIP
I started my internship on 3RD of May 2016 and will end on 2ND
of August, 2016. So from the beginning, I was placed in the
Editorial team and my task would be related to authorizing
and preparing materials for publication.
Thus, I have been collecting press materials since day 1 from
our clients regarding on their new collection, news or updates
about their brand. After that, I moved on to doing followed up
calls in order to emphasize our value to customers. With that, I
was able to build good relation and being more aware of what
is coming up in the next season.
On the top of that, my communication skill improved as well. I
have to admit that It was quite challenging for me to engage
with clients because you need to present yourself
professionally in a way to make others think of you as reliable.
Since I spend most of my time interacting with people,
explaining and answering their questions, it allows me to
build up my confident in my job.
To conclude, my relationship with my collogues and other
interns gets stronger as time passes and I’m proud of myself
that I tried to improve, be more proactive, hard working,
honest and responsible at my workplace. Everyone was
friendly and helpful there. They had so much to teach me
about managing of our company and letting me to experience
new things. I had so much fun and they always make me feel
apart of the team.
7. EXPERIENCES
I had an amazing experiences working in Popculture
Magazine. I can say that my job rotation is very effective for
better understanding of how those magazine companies
work.
Position : Editorial Team
Being in this position is the most mentionable work area for
me where I have learned many things about customer
relation. I got 60% of my internship learning from there
because I had to deal with different type of customers with
varied requirement to us. Sometimes, it was quite challenging
for me where I need to respond our client as fast as possible
and to serve them accordingly with perfection and high
professionalism.
Besides I’m also responsible in
taking over Popculture’s in-house
brand called MAZMOIZELLE.
Unlike the others, Mazmoizelle’s
collection is unique and
highlights their obsession with
sustainability and natural details.
The brand it self is originated
from Thailand and pieces from
their collection are 100% made of
cork. Therefore it’s light weight
and holds soft distinctive skin
with creativity.
8. CURATED LAUNCH PARTY
x
LANCOME SPIN OFF PARTY
2016
DATE : 2ND June 2016
VENUE : Apex Lounge, Zouk Club KL
OBJECTIVE : An official launch party for Curated, bringing
together a collective of KL’s tastemakers - celebs,
influencers, fashion and beauty industry people !!
BEFORE :
I’m taking charge of sending the
invitations to influencers,
bloggers, artist, business partners
etc. Letting them know their
invited to our party and also
what’s about to happen on that
night.
DURING :
Decorating the event place with
pinky cool props.
I’m also responsible for the guest
registration during the event from
7pm – 11 pm, engaging with
people.
9. Overall, It was a great experience for me as I’ve learned a lot
of what are the pros and cons on bringing up an event. We
really need to take multiple elements into considerations like
clients, preferences, timing, schedules, set up, expectations
etc. Thus, it is vital that organizing and holding an event takes
planning. So before the event, a preparation of timeline and
checklist is a need where it’s easier to highlight the
important aspects.
However during the event, I’ve also learned to seek for
clarifications in terms of delivering the right information to
our CURATED’s guest. As I’m responsible in the registration
counter where I need to instruct them on how to get free
goodies as well as details about the after party. Essentially it’s
communicating with people.
In the end, I understanding that interacting with people is a
key of spreading knowledge and form relationships. It is also
a way of expressing yourself to make the best possible first
impression on the people you encounter in and around your
business.
10. OBJECTIVE
My main objective of my internship :
To obtain acceptance to the Internship
Position Program in order to utilize my
creative skills, strengthen my ability of
communication and professionalism skills
as well as also gaining knowledge about
the fashion industry that are able to help
me in my future career.
11. EXPECTATIONS
&
ACHIEVEMENTS
1ST Week of Internship
TASK 1 :
I will be accumulating and compiling Press Releases from
different brands regarding to their latest Collections and new
updates that will be feature in our magazine. These
information will be segregated in to few categorizes like
Fashion, Beauty, Cosmetics, Cafes etc. As in the end of June, I
successfully gathered a great number of press release for our
next June-July publication.
We planned to do rebranding on
terms of marketing in order to
boost sales and profits. With that,
I came out with 3 themes
including mix and match styles
with Mazmoizelle, moodbord,
Product and model shoot.
TASK 2 :
16. 2ND Week of Internship
So as our next Issue of CURATED by Popculture is about to
publish on June-July 2016. Part of the exciting new platform is
the Curator Program, in which invited hand picked
independent creators, editors, experts and influencers share
their curations of fashion, beauty and urban lifestyle contents.
These may contain brand or product reviews and
recommendations, guides and tutorials, or simply as a space
express their views as an influencer, and amplify the discovery
and follower base of Curators themselves.
Overall I had succeeded having 70+ Curators on board for our
2016 list. As we aim to expand the Curator base internationally,
all Curators are and will continue to be carefully pre-selected.

17. 3RD Week of Internship
TASK : LOOKING FOR MORE COLLABORATIONS [ 2016 ]
I will be approaching local designers and local streetwear
brands for their collections and updates. CURATED/
POPCULTURE will be giving them an opportunity for value
exposure to strengthen their recognition in the market.
Besides, we got a segment call ‘ Hangout ’ and what we do is
unearthing new cool hipster café. Hence, I will be discovering
cafes and would like to feature their outlet in our magazine.
I’ve succeeded having 5 cafes confirmed to have a food review
session for each cafe as well as building a good connections
with them.
CURATED LAUNCH PARTY x LANCOME SPIN PARTY
Surprisingly 500+ guest turn up for the event on that night !
We succeeded gathering a collective of KL’s tastemakers -
celebs, influencers, fashion and beauty industry people
together and made an unforgettable night. All I can say that we
made a great team and sharing the same passion to bring up
this event.
18. CONCLUSION
I can honestly say that my time spent interning with
Popculture Magazine has been an excellent and rewarding
experience. Not only did I gain practical skills but I also had
the opportunity to meet and network with so many people
that I am sure will be able to help me with opportunities in
the future.
Besides that, the atmosphere at the office was always
welcoming which made me feel right at home. I felt like I was
able to contribute to the company by getting involve and
working on projects throughout the summer. For example, my
chief assisted me with several task in dealing with our clients.
Also, I helped to collect all of the contents and press materials
for the next coming issue. Thus in addition to these tasks, I
also reach out to collaborate with many company where both
of us are able to work and gain opportunity in nearer future.
Furthermore, one of my most memorable days was the event
that CURATED By Popculture organized outside of work. My
teammates and I set up a networking event where I was able
to join and be a part of it. It was such a awesome night! I was
able to interact and make connections with influencers,
business partners, new faces etc.
In sum, the tasks that I had learned during interning are
really useful for me in future to face challenges in a working
environment. Throughout the internship , I found that several
things are important:
19. • Time Management
As overall magazine companies are always
chasing against tight timeline and packed schedule, a
proper time management will minimize facing overdue
deadlines. An effective time management allows
us to do our work efficiently and meet our
schedules.
• Communication
In working environment, teamwork is important
in contributing to a strong organization. Teamwork
is also essential in reaching the goals of the
organization. Thus, communicating is much
needed in the working environment. Therefore, we
should be respecting each other in work, and working
together as a team, rather than doing it
individually.
Overall, my internship at Popculture has been a success. I
was able to gain practical skills, work in a fantastic
environment, and make connections that will last a lifetime.
I could not be more thankful.
